So very good news about the little Dog I posted about that was thrown onto the lap of my friend in the subway. She has a brand new home with two other little pooches. We couldn’t be happier for this little one!

This precious little pup was literally thrown on to the lap of Melissa, Callie’s mom, in the subway. Callie, 14 is not fond of the cute little interloper and even though Melissa would keep her if Callie didn’t mind, she wants to find her a new home. Leave a message here if interested.

Important information about collars that should not be worn at the dog park.

Collars and harnesses can pose a risk to dogs during play. They can get caught in teeth and jaws. This is one story with a happy ending, but tragically not all stories end this well. Learn what you can do to increase collar safety during dog-to-dog play.

DOG OF THE WEEK: This is Cooper—the morning crew know him as L’il Cooper or Baby Cooper. Cooper is mostly Catahoula Leopard Dog with some Weimaraner and Tree C**n Hound + more and he is still a pup at 16 months.

Originally named Mud Pie, Katy went to Bideawee last April to adopt him but found out he was already adopted. As fate would have it, while Katy was looking at another dog the adopters called back to Bideawee to return Mud Pie. Katy accepted fate and believes Cooper is the perfect dog for her. What a lucky day that was!!!!

Whenever he is in the Dog Run with owner, Katy, you’ll see him catching pieces of a dirty rope that he thinks is the best toy ever. If Katy doesn’t keep him moving and playing with his rope or best friends Stella, Rufus, Theo, O’Nora, he can easily jump fences to chase squirrels, join his friends who are leaving the run or chasing the park worker’s John Deere Gators to protect the run.

Cooper loves food, going to bed early and sleeping late. At home he enjoys playing with his adorable cat siblings Lulu & Benny even though Benny doesn’t return the feeling. But Lulu and we know what a great dog he is!!

DOG OF THE WEEK: Anora—nope not spelled like that—that’s what I thought too! She is not Irish but has a Gaelic name—O’nora (Honorable One) Artoo English. She is a very proper girl!!

O’nora is a very sweet 3 year old pup that gives kisses to many of her dog friends. She likes playing in the snow, chasing bees (uh-oh), and long hikes with Jamila, but not fond of baths, thunder or lightning.

Advice for other dogs: “Humans are worth training. It was a great day when mine finally realized that it is my home and she just pays the bills.”

Another pup from Texas rescued from Humane Heros—maybe Socrates and O’nora are related!! She is aware of how pretty she is and knows how to get what she wants. Stay Honorable O’nora!

DOG OF THE WEEK: Have you meet 7 year old Mona our dog or the week? She is a Texas rescue same as my Socrates. She is blind in her left eye from an injury before she was rescued, but she never misses a treat or a trick!

Mona was 3 yrs old when Dana rescued her after she gave birth to a litter of puppies in foster care. All the puppies were named after “Who’s the Boss” characters—which is how Mona got her name.

Mona’s favorite activities are rolling in the dirt or the grass or anything smelly, and digging holes. At home she loves to sun bathe and is an expert napper. She snores so loud that sometimes Dana’s coworkers can hear her on her work zoom calls.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Theo, a scrappy little rascal. I call him a roughneck and he loves to play with two other roughnecks, Astro and Rufus. He is 3 years old and full of mischief—or a naughty menace according to Brooke, his owner. If he likes you he will climb on you and want to give kisses, but be careful he may come on too strong and pop you on the lip.

Brooke decided she needed a friend to share her new apartment with so she adopted him from Queens ACC. How could you resist that face!!

He loves cucumbers and apples and will bark at Brooke to give him more and more cucumbers.

He loves his friends and loves being outside so much that he’ll protest going home. He’ll sit, lay down, then flop on his side and won’t budge! Despite his rascally personality, Brooke says he is a very good boy.
