šŸ’” Buster has been waiting over a year for his hero...could it be you?

Buster ( ), a 4-year-old Shepherd mix, was rescued from Louisiana in March 2024. Since then, despite his affectionate heart, playful nature, and eager-to-please personality, he’s been overlooked time and time again.

He’s a big boy with an even bigger heart, dreaming of a home where he can curl up beside you, smother you with love, and finally feel like he belongs. He knows his commands, adores playtime, and would thrive with an experienced adopter.

Meet Buster at our Port Washington, NY adoption center today!

**THANKS TO YOUR SHARES, ROXXIE HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME**

šŸ’” ROXXIE…RETURNED FOR WANTING TO SNUGGLE.
Yes, you read that right. 😭😭
This sweet, gentle, cat-friendly, 5 year old pitbull lost her home again… all because she wanted to curl up near her person’s face at night in bed.

We wish this was some sort of bad joke. She (and we) are absolutely heartbroken.

It wasn’t because she’s mean.
It wasn’t because she tore the house apart.
It wasn’t because she hated the other pets.

Returned because she wanted to be close to her people…and getting her off the bed (or training her to not get on the bed šŸ¤”) was just too much work.

Her world has once again turned upside down, all because her desire for comfort was seen as a flaw.

Roxxie now spends her entire day curled into a ball in her kennel, shaking in fear, and not getting up to greet visitors. It’s a struggle to even get her to go outside.

Roxxie deserves a home where ā€œtoo much affectionā€ is never a problem. She deserves someone who will love her for wanting to be near, someone who understands that closeness & bonding isn’t a crime…it’s the whole point of adopting.

🚨On a sweltering New York morning, an NYPD patrol car pulled up to the New York City shelter.
ā€œAnother oneā€ sighed the girl at the desk.

Inside, the kennels of are overflowing - but the animals just keep coming. This time, it was a very young and injured pittie. His paw pads burned red and raw, every step a struggle. A deep wound on his neck was oozing, the smell serving as a grim reminder of how long he had been suffering.

No one knows exactly what happened to him. Sadly, we will never know. But what we do know is that the number of animals entering NYC Animal Care Centers is staggering. Resources are stretched thin and NYC has reached its breaking point.

The medical team rushed out to help bring him in with the officers. Despite the pain radiating through his body, this sweet boy, now named Steel, wagged his tail and leaned into every gentle touch. His kindness stunned the staff.

One of the rescue coordinators immediately called us with a desperate plea. "Could we get Steel out of the shelter and into a private veterinarian’s care before it was too late?"

We said yes.

We immediately transferred Steel to our partner vet where he is receiving the life saving care that he deserves. But his road to recovery will be long, and the shelter he came from is still at critical capacity.

Please, help us give Steel the care and future he deserves. Your continued support makes our life saving work possible.

On Tuesday Draco will lose his life. There is no easy way to say that - this is an emergency and his life depends on whether we can find a foster for him.

Draco is currently at Animal Care Centers of NY; he arrived as a stray, terrified and alone. When staff approached him, he would flatten to the ground and tremble in fear; a sweet soul that was completely shut down.

Since then, Draco has come out of his shell. The staff adore him. He’s loving, kind, but now, he’s very sick and struggling.

Draco has a severe respiratory infection that has left him weak and in dire need of hospitalization.

He is so sick that he is now refusing to take the medication the shelter is able to provide.

Volunteers from our organization visited Draco and said he is so sweet but what’s happening is so heart wrenching.

We want to save him—but we can’t do it without a foster or adopter. If a foster can be secured, we can arrange transport to one of our hospitals for emergency care.

Both of our shelters are full, and we don’t have a single open foster home. We can’t pull him unless we have a safe place for him to go after treatment and right now, that place doesn’t exist.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, please, now is the time. Draco’s life is on the line.

Apply at www.NYCSCR.org/Foster and help us give him the second chance he deserves.
