Meet our Veterinarians! 🐾🩺💙

Dr.Cutrone was born in Staten Island NY and raised in Brooklyn NY. He attended Sacred Heart University where he mastered in Molecular Biology. He then earned his DVM degree at Ross University in St.Kitts, and completed his clinical rotation at Lincoln Memorial University. Dr.Cutrone joined Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services in 2022, and has been with our team since. 🏥

During his time as an ER Vet with us, Dr.Cutrone developed a deep love for Shih-Tzu’s. He rescued his fur baby ✨Romeo✨ in 2023 after being found malnourished and neglected. He also rescued his fur baby ✨Cannoli✨ while in vet school!

On his time off, Dr.Cutrone loves spending time with his Wife & Pups 💕. He also enjoys watching sports, and is a big Yankees ⚾️ and Jets 🏈 fan!

We’re proud to see Dr. Allison Rohde Newgent, veterinary surgeon and medical director, featured in PetHelpful discussing how Easter decorations and treats can turn into life‑threatening emergencies for curious pets.

“There are many pets who have swallowed things that were never meant to be eaten… decorative materials like synthetic basket filler, candy wrappers, and even small Easter toys can become lodged in the gastrointestinal tract, where they cause a complete blockage and often require surgery.”

Even though the holiday has passed, leftover candy, wrappers and decorations can still be within reach, posing a continued risk to pets long after the holiday ends.

🚨 Cat owners, please read this 🚨

Lilies are EXTREMELY toxic to cats — even a small amount of pollen, a lick of a leaf, or drinking the water from a vase can cause sudden kidney failure. This is a medical emergency.

If your cat has been exposed to lilies in ANY way, do not wait for symptoms. Bring them to a veterinarian IMMEDIATELY. Early treatment can be lifesaving — waiting even a few hours can make a critical difference.

To keep your cat safe, it’s strongly recommended to avoid having flowers in your home altogether. Many common bouquets contain hidden dangers.

👉 Swipe to see a list of toxic flowers and plants you should NEVER keep around cats!!

Your home should be a safe space for your pets. When in doubt, skip the flowers — your cat’s life depends on it. 🐾

Patient Highlight: Henri presented to GSiVS through our 24/7 emergency service after suffering a fracture of both his radius and ulna. Thankfully, he was transferred to our surgery team where our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Newgent, was able to repair his broken bones.

Henri recovered beautifully after surgery—so well that by the very next morning he was already eating breakfast, standing tall, and even putting weight on his recovering leg! He enjoyed soaking up the sunshine during his morning walk like the brave boy he is. ☀️🐾

The best part? Henri’s family was able to take their happy pup home the very next day. We’re so proud of this tough little guy and grateful we could be part of helping him get back on his paws! ❤️🤍
