💔 84 RESCUE CATS CAUGHT IN A HEARTBREAKING MASSACHUSETTS TRAGEDY

Behind every rescued animal is a story of love, compassion, and someone who refused to look away.

A Massachusetts woman who cared for foster cats was reportedly shot and killed following a conflict involving the animals. Her son has been charged in connection with the tragic case, according to the report.

Following this heartbreaking incident, 84 cats were seized, leaving animal lovers deeply concerned about their safety and future.

These cats are more than numbers. Each one is a life deserving of kindness, protection, and a safe place to call home. The people who dedicate their lives to rescuing vulnerable animals deserve compassion, and the animals in their care deserve a chance to survive and thrive.

🐾 May all 84 cats receive the care, shelter, and loving homes they need. And may justice be pursued through a fair and thorough legal process.

Rest in peace to a woman whose life was connected to caring for animals. May her compassion inspire others to keep helping those who cannot speak for themselves. ❤️

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month. 🐾 I wasn’t always open to these dogs myself. When I picked up Zoe from her foster home, her foster siblings were AmStaffs and pit bulls. I remember being surprised that the very people volunteering to rescue dogs had chosen them as their own pets. That made me question what I thought I knew. Through research, I realized I had accepted things I’d heard without questioning where the information came from. A frightening story can stick with us long before we ever stop to check the facts. Then came Diesel. ❤️ My misunderstood boy does have struggles. He has fears and reactions we’re working to understand. I don’t know everything he experienced during the first year and a half of his life, but I know the dog who presses his nose against me at night and trusts me to keep him safe. He is the gentlest, sweetest soul I’ve ever shared my home with. Loving dogs means learning to recognize fear, stress, pain, and discomfort—and knowing when to seek help. We can take concerning behavior seriously while looking beyond a breed label to understand the individual dog, their history, health, and needs. Accuracy is necessary for advocacy. Meet the dog behind the label. Learn their signals. Help them feel safe. And give them the chance to be understood. 🐾

I was driving around town and I look to see an elder lady walking a dog. I didn’t think anything of it until I got up closer and saw how much the dog was hurting. Panting like crashing, could hardly stand, underweight, and still getting pulled by a 3 inch long leash. I can’t stand seeing stuff like this.

The answer will always be a wholehearted “Yes”. Breed preservation is a looong process, and at times it can feel more stagnant than we’d like. But then I remember how regardless of where we are in the breed recognition process, our club’s member-driven committees continue to dedicate their time and energy to creating valuable resources for the public. I remember all the friends in my life that I’ve met through these dogs. I remember that a large part of breed preservation is taking the time to learn and taking the time to plan thoughtful pairings for when it’s time to breed. I remember that when obstacles arise due to the politics involved in all the official AKC stuff, that there is no way that our small but mighty community won’t prevail in the end. Because everything we do is in the name of the breed we love, in the name of education, and in the name of fostering the community that will help this breed thrive for years to come. If you love a rare breed, remember your “why” and don’t get discouraged (at least not for too long) ❤️

Missnogo knows what it’s like to have a home… and now she’s back in a shelter, waiting again.

She was once adopted, but later was found as a stray. Her family never came back for her.

Missnogo is such a sweet, gentle girl, but the shelter environment is clearly very stressful for her. Even with that, she is still loving and easy to handle. She enjoys petting, takes treats very gently, knows sit, and has a low to medium energy level. She can pull on the leash, but it is controllable.

She deserves more than this. She deserves a family who will truly keep her forever.

• Missnogo — ID A287145
• 2 years old
• 63 lbs
• Stray intake: 8/16/26

Available for adoption, foster, rescue, or foster to adopt.

Sully is just ONE YEAR OLD and already so scared of the world around him. He arrived at the shelter on September 28, and he is clearly overwhelmed by everything around him.

The barking, loud noises, and kennel environment are terrifying for him.

We don’t know what Sully has been through, but it’s heartbreaking to see such a young dog like this. He is very shy, submissive, and non-reactive to other dogs. He isn’t asking for much, just a quiet place where he can finally feel safe.

Sully will need someone patient, someone who understands that trust takes time and who will let him come out of his shell at his own pace.

He is only one year old. He deserves to know what it feels like to be loved instead of afraid.

• Sully — ID
• 1 year old | Male
• At the shelter since September 28, 2026
• Non-reactive to other dogs
• Very shy, scared, and submissive
• Frightened by loud noises and barking
• Needs a patient and understanding home

Sully is available for adoption, foster, rescue, or foster-to-adopt!

If you have a dog at home and would like to schedule a meet-and-greet with Sully, please call the shelter to make an appointment.
