Our very own Dr. Flaherty will be presenting at the “New York Vet Show” on Thursday October 29th.

Located at the Javits Center, the NY Vet Show has speakers and exhibits covering all aspects of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Flaherty will be presenting twice throughout the day:

-Indolent Corneal Ulcer Management at 9:45 AM in the Central Park Clinical Theater

-Infected Corneal Ulcer Management at 2:40 PM in the Bronx Clinical Theater

Meet the VEC team! 👀

Emily is our Hell’s Kitchen Practice Manager, who joined VEC in October 2025. She was born and raised in North Jersey but now proudly calls the Jersey Shore home. She graduated from Penn Foster in 2010 and has been working in veterinary medicine ever since, with a particular passion for emergency/critical care and ophthalmology.

After many years in the field, Emily found that one of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine is helping other veterinary professionals grow. She loves mentoring, teaching, and encouraging others to become more confident in their knowledge and careers. Watching others succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of her job!

Outside of VEC, Emily loves spending time with friends, going to concerts, and cheering on the New Jersey Devils. She’s also a proud pet mom to Lennon, her Chihuahua, and three cats—Thurman, Willie, and Hat Trick, her spirited three-legged cat who proves every day that resilience comes in all forms.

We’re excited to share that Veterinary Eye Center - Pennsylvania is opening soon on June 29 in Newtown Square, PA!

VEC PA will be led by board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Connie Yeh. Originally from New York City, Dr. Yeh earned her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine before completing advanced ophthalmology training, including her residency at Michigan State University. She spent nearly a decade practicing at a large multi-specialty hospital in Delaware and looks forward to partnering with local veterinary teams to support their ophthalmology cases.

At the Veterinary Eye Center, we are committed to providing focused, high-quality eye care for pets. We’re proud to support patients with compassionate care, advanced diagnostics, and surgical expertise tailored to veterinary ophthalmology, and we can’t wait to welcome pets and their families to VEC PA.

Get to know the VEC team! 👀

Akhi is one of our veterinary assistants who grew up in Queens, NY, and began her journey in animal care at 17 years old. Her first role in the field was as an Animal Manager at Petco, where she discovered her passion for working with animals.

Since then, Akhi has gained valuable experience in both shelter medicine and general practice before joining the VEC team. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from St. Francis College and is currently pursuing her goal of becoming a veterinarian, with aspirations to specialize in either exotic animal medicine or emergency medicine.

At home, Akhi is a proud pet parent to Itachi, her cat, and MJ (Mary Jane), her crested gecko. 🐱🦎

When she’s not at work, Akhi enjoys watching movies, trying out new recipes, and spending quality time with her friends and family!

Veterinary Eye Center’s newest location is now open in Brooklyn, and we’re excited to welcome patients and families to our new practice. Led by Dr. Steve Hanes as Medical Director, Veterinary Eye Center – Park Slope brings specialized veterinary ophthalmology care to the Park Slope neighborhood, making expert eye care more accessible for pets throughout Brooklyn.
