This guy is here mainly because he’s bitten. But he’s actually not an aggressive dog. After reading that I’m sure that many question “how could that be”
📍More on that in future vids/stories but for now here are some of the things we are doing that are working on what him and his family need
📍Providing an outlet (but not just any outlet) that allows him to put his feelings, needs and temptations into something productive. One where there are do’s and dont’s, a way to do it and a way not to do it
📍That right there is what allows us to learn how to teach, enforce and see progression of things. So in addition to him getting his outlet, we as handlers get to practice teaching and enforcing things along with learning how to progress those very things
📍All of these things combined paired with our the humans ability to communicate the same way in the problem areas as they did in the problem areas of the game becomes a copy and paste replica of how they will do so anywhere else. Only now they also have a dog that has gotten their fix and isn’t looking for others areas to fulfill that desire in areas and ways that we would deem I appropriate (aka behavior problems)
📍Teaching dogs to behave in public settings where there is temptation left and right is much easier and realistic if the dog routinely gets to scratch their itch in a more appropriate manner
📍That is what leads to a dog that’s not just listening but also feels differently about things and situations where they previously struggled
