Why is this puss so scared? With Easter and Mother’s Day around the corner, Lily 🌺 toxicity will be on the rise. A few petals, pollen, leaves or water from the vase can cause kidney failure:

The look 👀 when you find out grain-free diets are not good for you. More information is being released by FDA regarding the rise in heart disease related to diets. Among the dogs that developed ❤️ disease, 90 percent had been fed a grain free diet. Most of these diets contained peas, lentils or both.

It’s Pet Poison Prevention Week! The best way to prevent toxin exposure is knowing what to avoid. Here are the most common:
1. Human Medications
2. OTC Medications like advil
3. Food - Raisins, grapes 🍇, onions/garlic, sugar free foods that contain xylitol 🍭
4. Veterinary medications
5. Chocolate 🍫
6. Household products - laundry pods, paints, cleaners, etc.
7. Insecticides
8. Rodenticides (dogs love the sweet taste)
9. Plants (Lilly’s for 🐱 and Sago Palm and Oleander for 🐶)
10. Garden products 🍃

🐾Vet Tip - Pets most commonly become paralyzed from a slipped disk. As long as they have pain sensation, their prognosis is good with surgery for return to function🐾

FDA has recalled several pet food brands (Nature’s promise, Abound, Elm, ANF, Natural Life, Orlando, Nutrisca ++) for having an excess of 70x the recommended vitamin D level. “Excess vitamin D in the diet can cause vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling and weight loss. Vitamin D at toxic levels can cause kidney failure and death. Pet owners whose dogs have been eating the recalled brands and are showing these symptoms should contact their veterinarians.” The FDA website contains a list of products and lot numbers that were recalled.
