DOUBLE TROUBLE. Haaaaa haaaaa
That's what we're known as.
We along with a few others are new at the shelter.
We had a little bit of a struggle, because we were strays. And we were out in that terrific heat and then the rain and then the heat.
We got a little dehydrated and we got the sniffles and we ended up with parasites or even coccidia and we have to be treated for all of that.
But some of us have made our way through the medical protocol and we got to go into a roaming room and we're ready for adoption.
But Please don't do to us like the adopters did too Lonnie and Casey.
Don't adopt us and then decide you don't want to make time for us and bring us back within a month.
That's what they did to Lonnie and Casey and that's just not acceptable to do to animals.
Lonnie and Casey were thrown in a dumpster at birth just hours old where some of their other siblings died.
Luckily a wonderful citizen found Lonnie and Casey and got them to the shelter where they were able to be saved.
They got adopted out out only to be brought back because the people didn't want to make time for them anymore.
Now Lonnie and Casey are back at the shelter. they didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
This is just a cold hard truth.
We are not toys. we are not disposable or discard able When you decide to adopt us. We are family. We're yours for 16 to maybe 20 years.
When I said that we had a little bit of an uphill battle to get well.
We want to thank every single one of our loyal and dedicated volunteers to help us get better.
They were there when we needed our medicine. They were there when we needed to have our messy litter boxes & bedding cleaned because we had parasites and possibly Coccidia we had the diarrhea.
We may have had a stomach ache and we threw up and they took care of all that.
And they do it because they want to do it, because they love us.
These people give up their family lives, their extra time. They don't wonder how long it's going to take before they're done with their dog or cat chores.
They Don't care how long it takes. they're here for us Animals and us Animals only.
The volunteers are at the shelter at 7:00 in the morning. Rain or shine, freezing cold or knee deep snow to get the morning chores done.
Then there's afternoon chores and evening chores and chores in between if extra medicine is needed to be given. They do it because it has to be done in order for us to get better.
Love these people or hate these people, like these people are despise these people.
God bless these volunteers all over in all different shelters.
Us animals love these people.
Volunteering at an animal shelter is not coming down to the shelter & sitting around playing with the animals.
What it consists of is picking a day, picking a shift and mayke sure you show up for it. don't expect somebody else to cover your shift.
It's scrubbing kennels because a lot of the dogs probably aren't house trained.
So there's urine to clean up , P**p to clean up. maybe Vomit to clean up if they've had food that doesn't agree with them or they have a sensitive stomach.
Cats may be the same thing.
There are animals that can possibly come in with Parasites, Giardia, Coccidia, Ringworm, Ect.
Volunteers have to be there to treat and take care of that on a medical protocol so it gets addressed and properly taken care of so us animals can get better.
People think shelter volunteering is fun and giggles and laughs all the time it's not.
It's hard work, sweat and tears.
There's a lot of disinfecting & cleaning to do to keep the animals healthy .
A lot of laundry to do, Mopping the floors, Sweeping the floors, Ect.
That isn't just one or two persons responsibility.
It takes a shelter full of volunteers to give up their time to make a shelter run.
Unless you're ready to get your hands dirty, roll up your sleeves and do the work.
We animals are not interested in any of the self-proclaimed Dog and Cat experts opinion about anything.
So again us animals at shelters all over
We say Thank You and God bless our volunteers.
Because if it wasn't for these volunteers all over in different shelters, us animals wouldn't get a second chance at life.
And that's what it's all about, is us animals.
