This is your friendly reminder to book your pets teeth cleaning with Clean Teeth Happy Feet for Friday, 7/17 at our shop. Appointments are available from 9am - 1pm, although some slots are filled, they take 2 at every half hour slot. You can call our shop, stop by, or reach out to them to request a spot.

We are still taking new clients! We want to fill our books with your furry loved ones. Whether it's a doodle or a Maine C**n, we don't discriminate. And right now we are running a special where it's 25% off the first groom. This special will only last as long as we have room for new clients.

I still see and get complaints on the cost of dog grooming and it baffles me. So for those who don’t understand “why”.

Why it costs more for your dogs groom than your haircut.

10. Your hair dresser doesn't wash and clear your rear end. (OR have to do it more than once because you expressed your glands during your blow drying - just experienced this yesterday)

9. You don't go 8 weeks without washing or brushing your hair. (Sometimes longer, had a dog come in yesterday that looked like it was 13 years old due to his coat condition, when he wasn’t even 3)

8. Your hair dresser doesn't give you a sani trim.

7. Your hair dresser doesn't clean your ears.

6. Your hair dresser doesn't remove the boogies from your eyes.

5. You sit still for your hair dresser.

4. Your haircut doesn't include a manicure and pedicure.

3. Your hair dresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.

2. You don't bite or scratch your hair dresser.

1. The likelihood of you pooping on your hair dresser is pretty slim.

Also remember, you give consent to your hairdresser to do what they do. Although it’s a “spa treatment” not all dogs understand this and will fight it tooth and nail. It takes time, patience and the right groomers to get them to enjoy the experience.

An easy explanation of why your little dogs have the shakes when they come to see us…. My little one does this as well.

​If you own a smaller breed, especially a Toy Poodle, Maltese, or Chihuahua, you have likely seen them turn into a little vibrating washing machine the moment they walk into the vet clinic, a busy park, or the grooming salon.

​As pet parents, our hearts instantly sink. We assume they are frozen in pure terror or experiencing trauma.

​But biologically? You might be completely misreading the room.

​Welcome to "Psychogenic Tremors" (aka: The Sports Car Effect) ​Smaller breeds possess a naturally high metabolic rate and an incredibly sensitive nervous system. Their internal engines essentially "idle" at a much higher RPM than a big Golden Retriever.

​When they enter an environment where they know a specific routine is about to happen, their brain instantly releases a massive wave of adrenaline and cortisol. This isn't automatically a sign of fear, it is pure anticipation and hyper-focus.

​Because they have such tight, compact little muscle masses, that sudden, explosive surge of kinetic energy has nowhere to go. Their nervous system processes this sudden backlog of internal electricity by shivering to safely burn it off.

​Think of it like this: It is exactly the same as a human getting intense butterflies, a racing heart, or shaky hands right before they step onto a stage to give a big speech or ride a roller coaster. They aren't in physical danger or pain; their body is just firing on absolutely all cylinders to prepare for what’s next! ⚡

​The moment they get into their rhythm and that adrenaline naturally flushes out of their system, the vibrations stop.

​So the next time your little one starts to shiver at check-in, take a deep breath. They aren't broken, and you shouldn't feel guilty, their little sports car engine is just revving up! 🤍
