After a long stretch of hardly any adoptions... we can finally say goodbye to two dogs today. 🥳 Happy Gotcha Day to Hawk and Beauty!! We're so glad to finally get some more great dogs the new homes they deserve. And with luck, even more dogs will be leaving the nest this weekend. 🤞 Thank you for adopting today!! 🐾

We have some delightful news to share with all of our friends of Char-Wills!

One of our alumni, Raven, has gained her official status of being a therapy dog. ❤️ This gorgeous girl came to us from a familiar rescue, Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, in late April of 2024 as a stray. With unknown origins, her people gave her a chance and brought her home in early June. Fast forward two years later, and now she is a certified therapy dog! This just goes to show that great things can come from rocky beginnings. Like with all of our dogs, we especially love to see when they get jobs. Congratulations, Raven!! 🥳🎉🐾

Here's a furtastic pupdate for Nora! She's doing really well and having a some great summer time fun! Here's her pawrent's report:

Nora is doing fantastic.
I had her evaluated by a trainer last Friday to see if she was focused enough to join group training. We start training tonight, and the next six Thursdays.
We love her so much.
The biggest struggle is going to be keeping her weight down, especially with her right hip dysplasia. Nora is a love bug. She loves playing with other dogs, and she is so good with my Granddaughter who is two years old.
In her medical records I was given @ Charwills
It states the York SPCA
did in-house X-rays which were required by Charwills, and it showed
Dysplasia in the left hip.

What a sweet pupdate on Lolly! Sounds kind she's got some big shoes to fill and doing quite nicely doing it. Here's her pawrent's report:

Hi Diane & Team,
Quick update - We rescued Lolly exactly two years ago and she’s been simply amazing with everyone.
Like Kody (passed on Feb 4, 2024 from hemangiosarcoma), Lolly owns the entire house and several beds of her choosing.
Not a day goes by that we don’t think about our first love Kody. We truly miss him….because of Kody, Lolly is here with us at her forever home. And we all love her!!

Here's a short little pupdate for Nikki, formerly Nyx. She's been so happy in her new home. Here's her pawrent's report:

Hi - I adopted Nikki 9-16-23, and just wanted to send you a couple of recent videos of her with her frisbee. Sometimes Windows can be tempermental and Media Player won't open them, but the VLC media player opens everything. Just wanted to pass these along. She loves her flippy flopper frisbee, and she's doing great. :)

Meet Baby

At just one year old, Baby is already turning heads with her beauty, but it's her gentle spirit that's winning hearts. This lovely coated shepherd is a new arrival to the rescue and is still settling in, yet she's already shown herself to be sweet-natured, easygoing, and friendly with other dogs.

As Baby grows more comfortable, we can't wait to discover all the wonderful things that make her unique. For now, she's taking it one day at a time and soaking up the kindness around her.
We're excited to follow her journey and help her find the loving forever home she deserves.

ADOPTED Meet Hawk

Hawk is a stunning plush-coated German
Shepherd who is just beginning to settle into rescue life. Beneath his striking good looks is a gentle, thoughtful boy who is taking his time learning that the world can be a safe place.
He walks nicely on leash, handled grooming well, and responds best when given calm direction and guidance. Hawk can be a bit tentative, particularly around men at first, but his sweet nature shines through as he gains confidence.

As a new arrival, we're still getting to know him. His compatibility with other dogs and cats is currently unknown. What we do know is that Hawk is a handsome, gentle soul looking for a patient home where he can continue to blossom.

Meet Luna

Luna is the kind of dog who makes life easy. At 4½ years old, she has the perfect blend of maturity, intelligence, and athleticism. House trained, attentive, and eager to engage, Luna is a dog who enjoys having a connection with her person.

She's ball motivated, focused, and loves having a purpose. Whether it's a game of fetch, a walk, or simply spending time with her family, Luna is happiest when she's involved.

Her intelligence and willingness to work make her easy to handle and a pleasure to be around.
Having come from a loving home, Luna knows what it means to be part of a family. She would thrive as the only dog in the home, though she may be compatible with the right male dog.

Luna is a beautiful example of why adult dogs are so special-she already knows how to be a wonderful companior … she's simply waiting for someone to share her heart with.
