Gregory’s Gift of Hope is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable shelter for abandoned, homeless and unwanted animals in and around St. We will strive to assist the community in the prevention of animal suffering and abuse through rescuing and re-homing of animals. From our Director: Gregory’s was named after one of my very own rescues who meant the world to me a

nd my daughter. Gregory came to live with us from New York City where he was slotted to be euthanized. He was flown here and joined our family in January of 2000. He, without warning passed away at home with us on June 8, 2005. Because of his unique situation and his ability to overcome all of the obstacles and the cruel treatment he had prior to coming to live with us, we felt he should be our mascot in our crusade to help others who may be in similar situations. Our public walk-in hours for CATS are:

Sundays 5-8pm
Wednesdays 9am-12noon & 5-8pm
Saturdays 9am-12noon

To schedule a private appointment for cats during non walk-in hours, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050949afaf2ba7f85-ggoh #/

DOGS are shown by appointment only after an approved application. Please visit our website to learn more about our adoption process for dogs. https://www.ggohinc.com/adoption-process-dogs-1

Odie Has Left The Building…

❤️”LOVE ADOPTED”❤️

Odie, who was an owner surrender, has found his furever home and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Thanks to Jean and Linda along with Jet and Finn, Odie now has some place he can call his very own “home” again. 🏡

When Trying Is Just Not Enough…

Sometimes when I get to my “rabbit hole” thinking in the wee hours of the morning while I monitor the ICU kittens I often wonder how I ended up here. What brought me to the place that can make you feel your work and effort is needed and at the same time break your heart over and over, yet still inspires me to keep going? Of course the positive impact we as rescuers have on the animal plight of this country must be noted, and it’s a testament to the power of compassion and kindness. We spend hour upon hour trying to make sure so many get a chance at a life, and although we may lose some battles, we win so many more.

The cruelty of life is thrown in your path on a daily basis when you take it upon yourself to look around your world to find those in need, but it’s in those moments that we can discover our strengths. Your mindset is “I must try and help no matter the outcome” and that’s what makes us heroes. The outcomes may sink in and the losses may add up, but they also make us more resilient and more determined to keep going. Still you do your “what if’s” and “if only’s” but you know there really are no answers, only the chance to try again, and that’s what makes life so precious.

💔“LOVE DEPARTED”💔 Rest easy little Rhubarb you were very loved and your memory will live on.✝️🙏🏻

Rhubarb was not as fortunate to make it through his bacterial pneumonia like his little sister, Salt. We tried everything we could, and although we lost him, we know that we gave him the best chance at life. Rhubarb ended up at AERC for advanced care, and we are grateful for the time we had with him. We unfortunately have a large ER bill which is part of the ongoing costs of saving lives. Today we will be trying to raise dollars to help pay for Rhubarb’s care so we can continue to help others in need in Rhubarb’s memory. Give if you can, any amount helps, and know that you are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Oh my gosh, I was scrolling and saw the post and had to laugh because I now know how tired I really am. After a week and a half of keeping some little bu**er a live, I put Friday when it’s Thursday today 😬🙂

Friday Afternoon Cuteness…

Salt - she struggled to make it through her bacterial pneumonia but with a little help from her friends she is on her way to a happy healthy life we 🙏🏻. This little love had over a week and a half of ups and downs with me thinking so many times it was the end but what a trooper. Well worth the sleepless nights when you can see the outcome, when you can feel their gratitude. Her gentle eyes looking up at you like “ thank you, I was scared and you stayed”❤️😻

SALT UPDATE…

If you ever wonder what we do here, here is just an example of why sometimes we can not get to an application for adoption immediately, or take a phone call or answer an email, or even visit with someone for a minute or two. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication to care for the many animals in need that we are asked to assist, to keep them healthy and happy.

One minute they are thriving, the next it’s round the clock care. It’s not unusual to have as many as 4-6 kittens in need of our IC units at once during kitten season (which right now seems to be every week vs the old, a couple times a year). SALT was slipping away, so we had to pull out all stops and go with our big guns to save her 🙂❤️

She has turned her corner, she is eating well and putting on weight slowly. Breathing well, keeping her body temp and very alert.

Below is just part of our records as we attempt to save lives. We post not because we want a thank you but because we want people to understand the commitment it takes to have a pet and the resources you will sometimes need. A life is always worth the effort and they deserve every chance we can give them. 🐈‍⬛❤️🐾

SALT UPDATE:

Needing some prayers still for our sweet sweet Salt. She has been receiving round the clock care but still continues to struggle. We have been doing all we can with the assistance of our favorite on-call( to us)😉veterinarian, Dr Hansen.

Salt is struggling with Aspirate Pneumonia. It is very hard on these tiny kittens as well as those of us who are providing cares. It is heartbreaking when there are breathing difficulties involved. Salt lost her mother at only 14 days old. It is very hard on these babies to not be raised by their moms. We can do all we can for them but there is NO REPLACEMENT for their MOM.

Everyday this is happening and many kittens die never making it to anyone who could care for them. To many stray moms just trying to survive themselves let alone take care of a family.

SPAY & NEUTER!!! Even when they are not yours. If you have a cat hanging around, catch them, get them in to a veterinarian, FIX them and release. We have to stop this insanity - it takes each community and its residents to help stop the suffering.

You can help with her veterinary care and medications. DONATE www.ggohinc.com
