For over 35 years, Antlers by Klaus has crafted the world’s most respected reproductions—handmade with unmatched detail for hunters, museums, and collectors. Antlers by Klaus was founded by artist and whitetail enthusiast Klaus Lebrecht in northwestern Wisconsin almost 35 years ago. Klaus was a freelance artist and an aspiring taxidermist looking to hone his skills in the taxidermy trade and he tu

rned to master taxidermist Joe Meder in Iowa for instruction. It was there that Klaus was first introduced to antler replicas and it was love at first sight. After many years of perfecting this niche, clients soon came in droves after seeing the life-like realism of these quality antler reproductions including Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, the NRA and the National Turkey Federation. Klaus has been commissioned for reproductions from all corners of the globe. We are humbled by the overwhelming response we receive around the world from our reproductions – and are proud to share that our works have found prominence in literally hundreds of wildlife books, magazines, catalogs and digital mediums. Klaus, his wife Nola, and their team of exceptional craftsmen always put quality over quantity. Every reproduction is handcrafted using the absolutely highest grade materials and perfected to the highest standards of quality. Antlers by Klaus is proud to offer the largest, finest and most respected antler reproductions in the world.

Miniature antler reproductions are some of the most requested pieces we make, and in this video, Klaus takes a closer look at a few of them and discusses why they are a great option.

These smaller-scale pieces are a great way to own and display some of the most famous antlers of all time, with the same attention to shape, character, and detail that goes into our full-size reproductions.

We can also create custom miniature reproductions of your own deer, which we’ll be sharing more about in an upcoming video.

What’s on the bench at Antlers by Klaus

Today we’re showing two projects currently in progress: the world record four point shed and the eight point record from the state of Maine.

Both of these reproductions were made using our traditional molding techniques, capturing the form, structure, and detail of the original antlers. From here, they will be going to our talented artists for painting before being shipped to our clients.

Every reproduction is built with close attention to accuracy, character, and finish, whether it is a record book rack, a memorable trophy, or a shed find worth preserving.

3D technology is changing the way high quality antler reproductions are made, but a realsitic result still depends on the hands, eyes, and experience of the artist.

In this video, Klaus takes a closer look at how 3D printing is being used at Antlers by Klaus, along with some of the unique challenges that come with moving beyond traditional silicone molding. While 3D printed antlers allow for outstanding consistency, repeatability, and production speed, the raw printed surface does not always capture every fine grain, ridge, and natural texture found in a fresh mold.

That is where the finishing work becomes critical.

Klaus shows one of the examples we use at trade shows, comparing a real antler with a 3D printed reproduction that has been left half unfinished and half fully finished by our master finishers. It is a clear look at how our artists use specialized techniques to bring depth, texture, color, and natural character back into the finished piece.

We have had a lot of great conversations at trade shows about how 3D scanning and 3D printing are changing the game for antler reproductions and custom antler services. We hope this video helps answer some of those questions and gives you a better look at how modern advances in technology are being blended with old fashioned craftsmanship in our studio.

Broken, cracked, or damaged antlers do not have to stay that way.

In this video, Klaus shows us a customer’s original set of antlers that recently came into the Antlers by Klaus studio for repair. He explains the different methods our team can use to restore damaged antlers and help bring them back to a natural, display-ready condition.

Every repair project is different. Depending on the nature and extent of the damage, our craftsmen may use traditional hand molding, sculpting, shaping, color matching, and finishing techniques, or modern tools such as digital modeling and 3D printing for repairs that require additional precision.

Whether the damage includes broken tips, missing tines, cracked beams, burr damage, chew damage, weathering, or a trophy-room accident, the goal is always the same: a strong, seamless repair that blends naturally with the original antler.

This repair is just getting started, but when this customer receives their antlers back, they will be ready to display once again.

If your original set of antlers needs repair or restoration work, connect with Antlers by Klaus today. We would love to discuss your project and help determine the best repair option for your antlers.
