🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July from all of us at Maddog! ❤️🤍💙

While everyone else is stocking up on hot dogs and fireworks, we’re over here stuffing what feels like our 500th peanut butter Kong. 😂🐶

Fireworks can be stressful for a lot of dogs, so today is all about keeping our boarding pups comfortable with enrichment, calming routines, and plenty of tasty distractions.

We hope you all have a safe and fun Independence Day! Give your pups an extra cuddle tonight, make sure they’re wearing updated ID tags or have current microchip information, and remember to keep them safely indoors if fireworks are going off.

Now if you’ll excuse us… we’ve got approximately 497 more Kongs to fill. 🥜🐾

🎆 4th of July is right around the corner! 🇺🇸🐾

While we look forward to celebrating, the holiday can be one of the most stressful—and dangerous—times of the year for our pets. A little preparation now can make a huge difference.

🐶 A few things to do before the fireworks start:

💊 Refill anxiety medications early. If your dog uses medications like trazodone, Sileo, or other calming prescriptions, don’t wait until July 3rd to call your veterinarian. Many clinics have limited holiday hours and medications can take time to fill.

🧩 Plan some enrichment. Frozen Kongs, lick mats, puzzle toys, snuffle mats, and long-lasting chews can help keep your dog occupied and make the evening less stressful.

🏠 Create a safe space. Close windows and curtains, turn on the TV or a white noise machine, and let your dog stay somewhere they feel secure. Never force them to “face their fears.”

🏷️ Double-check your dog’s microchip information. The 4th of July is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets. Make sure your contact information is current, and verify that your dog’s collar and ID tags are secure before heading outside.

🚪 Keep doors and gates closed. Even dogs that have never tried to escape can panic when fireworks begin.
