“When should I start training my puppy?”

If I had a dollar for every time I got asked this question… 😂

My answer is always the same:

DAY. ONE.

The moment your puppy comes home is when training begins.

And no, I don’t mean your puppy needs to know 15 commands on their first day. I mean you should immediately start teaching them what life in your home looks like.

Things like:

• Learning their name
• Potty training
• Crate training
• Establishing routines
• Learning to settle
• Appropriate play and bite inhibition
• Handling and grooming
• Leash skills
• Recall
• Boundaries and household expectations
• Learning how to be calm and independent

Your puppy is learning whether you intentionally teach them or not. The difference is whether you’re helping shape those behaviors from the beginning.

Don’t wait for a problem to start training.

Start building the dog you want to live with from day one.

And if you’re wondering, “Okay Bree, but what exactly should I be working on with my puppy right now?” That’s what I’m here for.
