Meet Dr. Katie Condon! 🐾

Dr. Condon is a full time veterinarian at Five Rivers Pet Emergency Hospital. Originally from Chicago, she completed both her undergraduate degree and veterinary school at Kansas State University.

After graduation, she spent her first year practicing at a busy general practice in rural Southwest Virginia before deciding to pursue emergency medicine full-time. We’re so excited to have her on the Five Rivers team!

When she’s not at the hospital, Dr. Condon enjoys running with her Belgian Malinois mix, Lola, spending time at the lake, and traveling. 🐶✈️

🐾 Meet Dr. Mackenzie Treece! 🐾
Dr. Mackenzie Treece is the owner of Five Rivers Pet Emergency Hospital, where she has been dedicated to providing exceptional emergency and critical care since acquiring the practice in October 2022.

A Tennessee native, Dr. Treece earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Her passion for veterinary medicine lies in emergency medicine, critical care, and advanced surgery.

Since taking ownership, Dr. Treece has helped Five Rivers grow and expand its services, hours, and facility, including becoming a 24/7/365 emergency hospital and expanding into a larger facility in early 2026. While she spends plenty of time caring for patients, she also works behind the scenes to support her team, mentor new doctors, and create a positive environment where everyone can grow.

For Dr. Treece, owning an emergency practice is about more than medicine. It’s about supporting her team and providing the highest standard of care for every patient who comes through the door. ❤️

When she’s not at the hospital, Dr. Treece enjoys spending time at home or traveling with her husband and their three children. Their home is never short on furry and scaly company, with three dogs, a crested gecko, and a turtle keeping things lively! 🐶🦎🐢

🔴 24/7 EMERGENCY CARE:

If your pet needs urgent medical attention, you can now join our virtual line online for emergency visits any day, 24/7! Head to our website to hold your spot in line before you even arrive, and get started on your registration forms. This will allow our team to get you checked into our system and anticipate your arrive to the clinic to allow for quicker care upon arrival. As a reminder, patients are seen based on triage, so more critical pets will be seen first.

We are still offering Preventative Care Day appointments on the 20th of every month! To request your pet's wellness appointment:

🐾 SNAKE BITE WARNING FROM FUSEE! 🐍

Hi everyone! It’s me, Fusee! 🐶 I’m only 8 months old, but I’ve already learned a huge lesson about those sneaky "danger noodles" (snakes!) hiding out in the wild.

I recently had a scary encounter with a snake and ended up needing emergency care. I wasn’t the only brave pup at the clinic, either—another doggie friend was hospitalized at the exact same time as me recovering from a potential snake bite injury! 🩺❤️

We’re both doing well and my facial swelling as improved greatly while hospitalized, but I want to make sure all my furry friends stay safe. Here is what my veterinary team wants every pet parent to know:

🚨 DANGER NOODLE DOS & DON'TS:
Keep a Close Eye: Watch your pets carefully when they’re hanging out in tall grass, brush, or under woodpiles. That's where danger noodles love to hide!

Speed is Key: If you suspect a snake bite, do not wait. The quicker you intervene and get your pet to the vet, the better the outcome! ⏱️

Antivenom is On Hand: Not every pet requires antivenom treatment, but our hospital keeps it stocked just in case it’s indicated for your pet's recovery.

Please stay safe out there on your adventures, and keep those snouts out of the tall grass! 🌾🐾

If you ever suspect a bite, don't hesitate—call your vet or head to the emergency clinic right away!

🏥 A Gentle Reminder on Holiday Wait Times:
The 4th of July week is historically one of our busiest time of the year. If you need to visit us, we compassionately ask for your patience and kindness with our hardworking team.

We see all patients on a triage basis, meaning the most critically ill or injured pets are always treated first.

Please remember: A longer wait time actually means your pet is stable. While waiting is tough, a longer wait is always a good sign for your pet's immediate health.
