We have been extra busy the last few months with puppies, shows and work, but we have also been extra busy starting up our newest project. Welcome to Shire Farm!
We are taking our love of animal husbandry, as well as becoming more self sufficient for ourselves, our dogs, and our client dogs to the next level. Our mission is to raise sustainable foods, chews and treats for our dogs to enjoy, and that we can offer as add ons to the dogs that are staying with us as well. And, if there is any surplus, we would love to offer porch pickup, and maybe even ship shelf stable products.
Meet a few of our newest additions!
We have 20 laying hens and expect eggs in a variety of colors. Eggs will be non GMO, soy free, and hand collected from our hens that free range safely in their chicken tractor. Dogs staying with us will have the option of adding a fresh egg to the meals! We also hope to have enough to spare to sell dozens when available.
We have welcomed 10 rabbits so far, with two more coming soon. Our rabbits will provide a high source of protein for meals for us as well as the dogs. And the ears and feet will make excellent chews for the dogs, while the organs will make yummy treats.
And finally, we added two Nigerian Dwarf goats for milking! Goat milk is superior for a dog’s body to process making it perfect for puppy weaning! It’s also a great addition to adult dog’s diet, especially when fermented into kefir, which we will keep on hand for meal add ons.
And for all of our gardeners out there, we have bunny berry fertilizer for sale!! Bunny berries are a cold manure, meaning they can go straight into your gander without having to be composted and they will feed the soil with a slow release.
Stay tuned for our Shire Farm page to go live, an added page to our website, and individual animal intros!!!
