Shear Design - Salt & Light Standard Poodles

Shear Design - Salt & Light Standard Poodles Salt & Light is inspired by Matthew 5:13–16. Sharing our passion for Standard Poodles while honoring Him in all we do!

Salt reminds us to preserve what’s good; light calls us to reflect Christ through integrity, kindness, and humility.

I am SO incredibly proud of how he’s coming along! 🥹 He’s been doing so well with his conditioning, building a little more muscle definition, and learning to hold a better, more balanced stack. The progress is definitely starting to show!

But more than anything, I’m thankful for his patience and willingness to literally do whatever crazy thing I ask of him. 😂 Whether it’s grooming, training, stacking, conditioning, or me repositioning him for the 47th time….he just goes along with it. 🤣

He really is such a good boy, and I’m so excited to see where all this work takes us. 🖤🤍🐩

If you miss our TikTok live, I did this groom. I will be working on the edit today and posting the video soon!

Little Pink Girl was hands down one of my favorites from Destiney’s Kennels in Knoxville! 🩷

She is FULL of s***k, has great drive (honestly, they all have such nice drive!), is sweet as all get out, and is far from shy! 🤩 She’s such a fun, confident little girl.

I could absolutely see her doing great in performance sports, as a UKC conformation prospect, grooming competition dog, or simply being an amazing family companion. 🥹🩷

Psssst… I’m offering show-trim grooming (or lessons if you want to learn) for pups 👀✂️ Soooo if you’re local and have been thinking about snagging this cutie, I certainly wouldn’t complain about getting to watch her grow up. 😉😂

If you wanna see more of the pups in the litter featured let me know! 😉

This. This is why temperament matters. 🤍

When we talk about breeding dogs, structure, health, titles, and pedigrees matter but temperament should never be an afterthought.

A stable temperament starts with genetics, and then it’s our responsibility to nurture that foundation. Raising dogs alongside children can provide so much more than simple desensitization. Positive, appropriate exposure to the noise, movement, unpredictability, and everyday chaos of family life can help build confidence, adaptability, trust, and resilience.

I also want to make something VERY clear: we practice dog safety in our home. I do not intentionally allow my children to get in a dog’s face, climb on them, pull on them, or disrespect their boundaries even with our own dogs. Children should be taught to respect dogs just as much as dogs should be taught how to appropriately live around children.

But life happens, especially with little kids. Sometimes you catch a candid moment before you can intervene, like a little kiss on the head or a toddler hand somewhere you wouldn’t intentionally place it. And there is something incredibly special about knowing the dog beside them has the stable, tolerant temperament to simply think, “Okay, tiny human…” and carry on. 😂🤍

That doesn’t mean we test their tolerance or expect them to put up with anything. A good temperament should be protected, not taken advantage of. But it absolutely matters when choosing dogs for a breeding program.

Genetics set the foundation. Socialization, training, boundaries, and positive life experiences build upon it.

My goal will never be simply to produce a beautiful dog or one that can win in a ring. I want dogs that can do both dogs that are structurally sound and beautiful, but can also come home, settle into real life, confidently experience the world, and thrive as part of a family.

Because for most of them, the greatest and most important title they’ll ever hold is “family dog.” 🤍🐩

Nothing to see here… just Dozer sleeping on his back, legs in the air, not a single care in the world. 😂

No job. No bills. No kids to raise. Just ✨Chilling✨ and absolutely ZERO concern for personal space or modesty. 🤣

Meanwhile we’re over here trying to figure out which 6 inches of OUR bed he’s graciously allowing us to sleep on tonight.

Must be exhausting being this spoiled. 😂🐩

Kimberly has a beautiful litter of puppies right now! 🐩❤️ Select puppies are available as AKC/UKC show prospects, while others will make absolutely wonderful pets for the right families.

They’ve been raised around kids and are already showing really nice temperaments! 🥹 I’m not sure how many spots she has left after deciding what she’s keeping, so if you’ve been in the market for a Standard Poodle, definitely reach out to her! 👀🐩

Just putting a little temptation on your timeline… 😉 Kimberly Bertotti von Mitch

Can we talk about the REAL struggle of owning an intact male Standard Poodle in a MCC? 😂💀

Welcome to another episode of:

✨ THE P*E BRACELET CHRONICLES ✨

Nobody warned me that maintaining beautiful bracelets would also mean becoming a full-time p*e prevention and damage-control specialist. 🫠

Dozer will go outside, lift his leg, and somehow choose ONE. SINGLE. BLADE. OF. GRASS. 🌱

And that ONE blade of grass apparently has the engineering capabilities to redirect the entire stream directly onto his front bracelet.

Sir. There is an ENTIRE YARD.

But my personal favorite is when he decides he’s done and just… walks away.

Except—

HE IS STILL P*EING. 😭💀

So now he’s casually strolling along, his winky is flopping back and forth like an unattended garden hose, and we’ve got a full-blown sprinkler system happening underneath the dog. 💦🫟

Front bracelet? P*E.
Rear bracelet? P*E.
Opposite rear bracelet that shouldn’t have even been involved in this situation?

✨ SOMEHOW ALSO P*E. ✨

And before anyone comes for me:

YES, I own all the covers. 😂
Do I always utilize them? Absolutely not.

Because sometimes I just want my dog to go outside and p*e without having to suit him up for a hazardous-materials operation first. 😭

And YES, I’m a groomer.
YES, he gets bathed regularly.
YES, those bracelets get washed even MORE regularly.

But do I particularly enjoy touching p*e-soaked poodle hair multiple times a day?

No. No I do not. 😂

Apparently this is what love looks like when you own an intact male poodle in coat: maintaining beautiful hair while following him around whisper-yelling…

“DOZER. YOU’RE STILL P*EING. STOP WALKING.” 💀😂

But I guess we compromise for those we love. 🥴❤️🐩

Please tell me the other intact male poodle owners are also out here fighting for their lives in The P*e Bracelet Chronicles. 😂💦
