🍂🦌 TRAIL RIDING SAFETY: BE SEEN THIS HUNTING SEASON! 🐴🧡

Fall and winter are beautiful times to hit the trails, but they also bring hunting season, shorter daylight hours, and reduced visibility. Whether you're riding through the woods, crossing fields, or traveling along wooded trails, making yourself and your horse visible is SO important!

🧡 Why wear blaze orange?
Bright fluorescent orange helps hunters distinguish people from the surrounding landscape. Wearing it makes you and your horse easier to spot, especially in wooded areas and during low-light conditions.

🐴 Trail Riding Safety Tips:
🧡 Wear a blaze orange vest, jacket, or other highly visible outerwear.
🧡 Add reflective orange gear to your horse, such as a breast collar, leg bands, or a safety sheet.
🧡 Make sure both you AND your horse are visible from multiple directions.
🧡 Avoid riding during peak hunting hours when possible, and always check local hunting regulations and public land rules.
🧡 Stick to marked trails and let someone know where you're riding and when you expect to return.
🧡 Wear a properly fitted riding helmet and use extra caution near roads and trail crossings.

⚠️ Remember: Orange and reflective gear improve visibility, but they don't guarantee safety. Reflective materials work best when light shines on them, so fluorescent orange is especially useful during daylight hours.

Sheath cleaning is one of those grooming tasks that can easily get overlooked, but keeping your gelding or stallion clean can help promote comfort, hygiene, and overall well-being.

Here are a few reasons it may be needed:

🔹 Removes buildup – Dirt, oils, dead skin cells, and sm**ma can accumulate over time.

🔹 Helps prevent discomfort – Excessive buildup can become irritating and, in some cases, may contribute to swelling or soreness.

🔹 Allows you to check for abnormalities – Cleaning gives you an opportunity to notice unusual swelling, sores, discharge, or other changes that may need a veterinarian’s attention.

🔹 The “bean” – Some horses can develop a firm accumulation of sm**ma in the urethral fossa. If you’re unsure about safely checking or removing it, ask your veterinarian for guidance.

⚠️ Remember: More cleaning isn’t always better! Over-cleaning or using harsh products can irritate the sensitive skin of the sheath. Every horse is different, and cleaning frequency should depend on the individual horse.
