Choking in dogs is a life-threatening emergency that requires quick action. If your dog is choking and struggling to breathe, knowing basic pet first aid can make a critical difference. ❤️🐕

🐾 Remember these emergency tips:
✅ Check whether your dog can breathe, cough, or make sounds.
✅ If an object is clearly visible and easy to remove, carefully remove it without pushing it deeper.
✅ If the airway remains blocked, appropriate choking first aid may help dislodge the object.
✅ Seek immediate veterinary emergency care, even if the object comes out.

A fire going, my boys surrounding me, something good to drink, crisp fall air… and Noah Kahan playing in the background. 🤎🎶

No pressure to be anywhere else. No chasing people. No overexplaining myself. No wondering where I stand. Just slowing down and appreciating the little life I’ve built and the souls who make it feel like home.

Life has taught me that not everyone stays when things get hard or when you no longer have as much of yourself to give. But these boys? They don’t care what kind of day I’m having or what I can offer them. They just want me. 🐾

Sometimes healing isn’t some huge breakthrough. Sometimes it’s a cool fall evening, a fire crackling, Noah Kahan coming through the speaker, dogs piled around you, and realizing…

maybe peace was never about having more people around me. Maybe it was about feeling safe with the ones who stayed. 🤎

Someone once said to me, "You love animals so much because you have so much love to give, but you've never had enough safe spaces to pour it into."

I've never forgotten those words, because they described something I never knew how to say out loud.

Some of us love big. We give our whole hearts, and we learn the hard way that not everyone knows how to hold them. People took our softness and called it weakness. They took our loyalty and treated it like something we owed them. After enough of that, we stopped handing our love out freely and started holding it close.

But all that love doesn't just disappear. It waits.

And then a dog rests its head on your lap after a rough day. A cat curls up beside you without being asked. They don't keep score. They don't twist your words or make you earn your place. They just feel safe, every single time.

That's why their presence heals something people couldn't. With them, you never have to wonder if your love will be used against you.

So if you're the one who loves animals more than most people, don't let anyone make you feel strange for it. You're not broken or too sensitive. You're someone with a huge heart who learned to be careful. And you finally found somewhere your love is safe.

For many seniors and struggling families, a dog is so much more than a pet.

They are companionship on lonely days.
Comfort during difficult nights.
A reason to get up and keep going.
A loyal friend who never asks how much money is in your bank account. ❤️🐾

But when money gets tight, some loving families face an unbearable choice:

Buy food for themselves… or fill their dog's bowl.

Traditional food pantries may help with human meals, but not every community has somewhere families can turn for pet food. And no one should have to surrender a beloved companion simply because times became difficult.

A bag of dog food may seem like a small thing.

But to a struggling family, it can mean keeping a dog safely at home instead of watching them enter an already crowded shelter.

These animals have stayed beside us through our hardest seasons.

When their families are struggling, our communities can help keep them together.
