September is Happy, Healthy Cat Month!

Cats are experts at hiding when something isn’t quite right. That makes staying proactive about their health especially important. 💜

A few simple ways to keep your cat happy and healthy:

🐾 Keep up with regular vet visits
🎣 Make time for interactive play
🌳 Add cat trees, shelves or window perches for enrichment
🧩 Try puzzle feeders to engage their natural hunting instincts
💧 Keep fresh water available and encourage good hydration

Happy, Healthy Cat Month is also a good reminder that cats aren’t “low-maintenance” pets. They’re intelligent, social animals who form deep bonds with their people and deserve the same attention to their physical and emotional health as any other member of the family.

It’s been a while since Charlotte made an appearance around here. 💜🐾 So, a quick reintroduction.

Charlotte survived parvo, cruelty, and neglect in Texas. She had a litter of puppies who were never found. Somehow, through all of it, this girl kept going.

She made her way to Connecticut and proceeded to build herself quite the life.

She now has THREE homes she considers hers, multiple humans wrapped around her paw, and a fan club that continues to grow.

Basically, Charlotte went from surviving to running a small real estate empire.

This is what rescue can look like.

A shelter can be a stressful, unfamiliar place for an animal — and the pet you meet there may be very different from the one who settles into your home. 🐾💜

-Come with an open mind. A pet’s behavior in a stressful shelter environment may be very different from who they are once they feel safe at home.
-Don’t expect an instant connection. Give animals space and time to approach you.
-Keep your energy and voice calm. Our stress and excitement can affect them, too.
-Ask before interacting and follow the shelter team’s lead. They know which animals may be fearful, shy or need a slower approach.
-Most importantly, be patient. Some of these animals have just lost the only home and family they’ve ever known.

Dexter’s been wearing a lot of tshirts lately. He has a non cancerous mass on his chest. It’s gotten very large and we’re worried he could get it caught or worse. We’re considering surgery, but he’s 14 with a heart condition. So tshirts it is for now. We think the look is working for him 😍
