📜 How Rilo & LooLoo came to Leo's Love & Legacy:

▪️Rilo was surrendered to us by his owner in October after he nearly died. We spent $2,800 to save his life. He has thrived in foster care and requires follow up cardiac testing before they can be adopted out as a pair. 🫀

▪️LooLoo was trapped as a feral mama and was sent to us in November to socialize her after her kittens were weaned. We have a passion for socializing so needless to say, she's SUPER friendly now and LOVES to be pet everywhere. HUGE flirt. VERY chatty. Extremely floofy. 😻

Rilo & LooLoo fell in love while in foster care and are inseparable now. 💞 Problem is, we have no choice but to separate them (forever) and end their love story if we don't have a foster for them by FRIDAY 6/12. ⏳🆘🚨⚠️ My lease is up and we've only found a rescue to take LooLoo, not Rilo, because of his medical needs. They may only have 48 hours left together. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Blue came to us when his owner faced housing challenges. He’s lived with one person his entire life and only responds to the name Blue. Now, he’s ready to bring a lifetime of love to your family!

The Deets on Blue:
🏠 Indoor King: He is strictly an indoor boy but loves spending hours lounging in a catio.

👋 Social Butterfly: He is incredibly outgoing and doesn’t shy away from visitors. Everyone who meets Blue instantly falls in love!

🐶 Dog Friendly-ish: Dogs don't bother him much, as long as they are the calm and quiet.

🐱 King of the Castle: Blue would ideally love to be your only cat. He is beautifully persistent about pushing boundaries with other cats and wants to be the center of someone’s universe!

Blue is neutered, UTD on vaccines, FIV/FeLV negative, and just got a clear bill of health (his senior blood panel and urinalysis look great!). The doctor said he was a superstar patient. 🌟

Sorry, this isn't a happy post.
Our lack of fosters has directly caused the death of at least 3 cats this week that we know of.

Unfortunately, when we were asked to help them, we said "NO. We can't. We don't have a foster home."

Unfortunately, in each of these 3 cases, the cats died. They didn't know how to survive after being dumped and we had no choice but to leave them out there.

Now I must bury their bodies with a severe arm injury that requires surgery.

I'm ready to give up.
Operations are paused indefinitely.

Instead of wasting my time searching for more fosters, we're looking for volunteer grave diggers to prepare holes that we'll surely be needing in the coming weeks. I can't keep digging them myself.

Consider this an ultimatum. We need fosters or we will be forced to dissolve. Please apply to save Leo's Love & Legacy.

You may remember that we (pretty impulsively) picked up a cat in Manchester on 5/14. He darted in front of my car around 1am and I stopped to check him out. He looked (and meowed) so much like Leo that it stopped me in my tracks. He didn't have a microchip and I knew I couldn't leave him there. 🩶

I put him in the car and drove a few more blocks to drop something off at my friend Lindsey's house and Theo was riding shotgun.🐾

Lindsey took one look at him and knew exactly who he was. She'd been feeding and caring for him outside since he was dumped at her condo complex on 4/28. She had actually been telling me about him earlier that day but I didn't connect the dots when I saw him in the road that night. 🚙

THANK GOODNESS Lindsey took him under her wing and kept him in one place for the 3.5 weeks he was homeless. She helped him remain safe and well-fed until he could be rescued. 🙌

I named him Theo because:
A ) it rhymes, and
B ) my 103-year-old Grandpa, a proud Marine, is named Theodore. ❤️🇺🇸

Theo crashed with me for a few days and I wanted to continue to foster him and adopt him out myself, but when I say we're at capacity, I mean it.

As much as it pained me to place him elsewhere, we simply don't have the room right now. So I sent him to our favorite shelter: Protectors of Animals

As soon as the all-volunteer shelter staff met him, they knew he'd adopt out very quickly. "As sure as sure gets" were their words. 💕

Today was his FIRST day up for adoption and of course, he was the first cat adopted at POA this weekend. ❤️‍🔥 Congratulations to Theo on finding his furever home! Happy trails, sweet boy. Thank you for being a part of our story and thank you for letting us be a part of yours! Wishing you all the best in your new home, bud🎉🏠💖

UPDATE: Adopted

Two year old Theo is a happy guy. He wants nothing more than to be sacked out in the middle of the floor, hanging with his people. Does he play? Yes, but it isn’t his reason for living. Does he like being petted and snuggled? Yep. But honestly, he doesn’t require that much attention. As long as you are nearby, Theo is comfortable.

Which makes his history all the more upsetting. Theo came to Protectors of Animals after someone saw a car drive into their condo complex, put him outside, and drive away. We try to be understanding. After all, we don’t know what people are going through and life can be very hard. But leaving an animal in an unfamiliar location will often result in tragedy.

Luckily that did not occur in this case, because the neighbor who saw him left immediately stepped up and stepped in. Not all heroes wear capes. And we are also pleased to report that Theo seems to have put his past behind him.

Theo is a confident and easy-going boy. He doesn’t hold grudges. He loves easily. He doesn’t ask for much. He is happy just to be allowed to hang out wherever you are, sprawled on the floor, content that you are watching over him.

Joey's rescue story. 💞
5/22/2026. 🗓️
We're trap training mama & setting up a camera in the senior citizen's yard to make sure she doesn't have any other babies out there before trapping her & reuniting her with baby Joey. Unfortunately, mama was nowhere to be found when I went out to assess the situation and I couldn't leave Joey there. It's unclear if there are others out there, if she was just rejecting this one, if she was going to come back or not, or if her other kittens didn't survive to this age. Hopefully we know more soon.

- Bonded 2-year old pair. Hilarious duo. Constantly playing. Both friendly but LooLoo is more shy, Rilo is VERY outgoing. Julia's had this pair for 7 months and unfortunately cannot adopt out Rilo yet, as we are still fundraising for his important cardiac testing. Rilo & LooLoo will also need their own room.

A day in the life of Porcini. 🍄

Soon, she'll be able to be introduced to 2 other kittens... but not until she's fully vaccinated with a negative f***l test result. 💉🔬🦠💩

Porcini was born outside at a colony in Newington as a solo surviving kitten. We actually didn't know she existed till we went to trap mama Truffle. 🪤🍄‍🟫

The rescue of this crew is a long and complicated story to explain so I'll save it for another day, but she's from the famous pasta colony of Newington. 🍝🐈

Porcini is running low on food and could use some donations of her baby food! She LOVES Tiki Baby Paté cans and Tiki mousse packets! 👅😋

UPDATE: Foster home secured! Gertie is thriving and her surgery is scheduled for 6/26 at Hebron Veterinary Hospital

🆘⚠️ Unfortunately, Gertie's foster placement didn't work out. As amazing as it looked on paper, it just wasn't a good fit for Gertie 😿🐈

We are hoping someone here has a vacant, cat-friendly spare room they can share with our aging and ailing girl. She has breast cancer and only so much time. 🐈⏳

She seems very stressed in her current situation and we'd like to move her ASAP. ⏰

We *need* folks to open their hearts and homes, otherwise we simply can't continue operations. 🛑
