🖤🐾 Happy National Black Dog Day! 🐾🖤

Today we’re celebrating some of the beautiful black dogs who call Sweet Dreams sanctuary home. Coraline, Annie, Enoch and Lucy may share a coat color, but each one has a personality all their own. 🥹🖤

Black dogs can sometimes be overlooked in shelters, although research on the effect of coat color on adoption is mixed. What we do know is that things like age, size, breed and individual circumstances can all influence how long a dog waits for a home.

And our senior black dogs have something extra special we happen to adore: their silver. 🥹🩶

As dogs age, gray and white hairs often begin to appear around the muzzle. On a black coat, those little silver hairs can be especially noticeable—tiny reminders of all the years they’ve lived, loved and learned. 🖤

So today, take a second look at a black dog. Take a moment to see the personality underneath it all. Because black dogs have so much to give! 🐾🖤
