Welcome to training, Rocket!! Rocket is here for some behavior modifications - he’s a really nervous dog and lacks very much confidence, so we have a lot of needed confidence building to do. He is also pretty anxious - he barks at everything, struggles to settle, and stays on high alert. We have those things to work on, as well as potty training. His training program is also customized and will also look a little “different” as we progress.

Welcome to training, Lola!! Lola is a sweet girl that’s here for some basic obedience, and she’s also here for us to modify her human reactivity. She gets in trouble following her nose occasionally too (a hound? No way!), so teaching her to respond well even when there are good sniffs to sniff is on her training agenda.

Help me welcome the newest member of the Winnabow K9 family - Downton! He was found dumped near my friend’s office building, and that friend took him in and posted him on social media. I saw him and had to meet him. My sweet cat passed last year and it’s been emptier without him. So, here we go again! He’s a tuxedo, so of course he needed a proper name.

Will I be training him? Yes. Will I train your cat? No 🤣

Our first round of group classes wrapped up in March - but don’t worry, we have another class coming!

Our on-leash group training class is returning on July 1st! We will be offering this through Pitt Community College once again, and this time class will be on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm, starting July 1st and going until August 5th. We will focus on leash walking and using your leash to communicate with your dog.

This course will take field trips off campus as well!

Dillon and Bogey enjoyed a day of training along the beautiful New Bern waterfront. The park is an excellent spot to find all kinds of distractions to train around, and we weren’t disappointed. These two practiced all of their commands all over the park while screaming kids, other dog walkers, joggers, and people enjoying the view enjoyed the park along with us.

Stay tuned to see how they wrap up their training! Even though Dillon is deaf, he’s very much able bodied and willing to do what Bogey does 😊

Olive is finishing up her final week of that training program and has been fine tuning everything she’s learned here. It’s not only cool looking, it’s useful in day to day life. She can do things very fluidly now. Stay tuned for her graduation!
