We'd love to take a moment to introduce our amazing Veterinarian, Dr. Kathleen Blessing, DVM!
"I’m Dr. Kathleen Blessing, a veterinarian specializing in compassionate and peaceful, at-home euthanasia for beloved pets. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, I have developed a deep understanding of animal care and a profound respect for the bond between pets and their families. My focus is ensuring pets pass with dignity and comfort in the familiar surroundings of home.
My decision to pursue at-home euthanasia stems from a deeply personal experience when my dog, Gracie, a German Shepherd mix, was diagnosed with cancer. As a new mother and working professional, I faced the challenge of balancing my new role while caring for Gracie in her final days. After a joyful but difficult outing to the park, I knew it was time to let her go. Although we lived near the clinic, I wanted her final moments to be peaceful and familiar, so I asked a close veterinarian friend to come to our home to help her pass.
After she had passed, I looked at my friend and said, "Why would anyone want to take their pet to a clinic for this?" That moment opened my eyes to how comforting it can be for both pets and their families to have the option of euthanasia at home, surrounded by love and familiarity.
Since then, I’ve been dedicated to offering other pet parents the same compassionate service. Every pet deserves a peaceful, dignified farewell in the comfort of their own home, and I am honored to help families navigate this challenging time with care, empathy, and respect.
A little bit about me on a more personal note: I was born in the Chicagoland area, but Wisconsin has been my home for the majority of my life. Over the years, I’ve fully embraced the Wisconsin way of life, including my love for the Brewers ( !). I currently live in New Berlin, WI, with my wonderful husband and our two amazing daughters. Our home is always full of energy, not just from our kids but also from our beloved pets—three cats and two dogs—who bring so much joy and warmth to our family.
