Volunteers Needed – Wednesday Cage Cleaning

CARE is currently seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with bird cage cleaning on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Providing a clean, safe environment is essential to the health and well-being of the birds in our care. This important role helps ensure each bird receives the quality care and comfortable living space they deserve while awaiting their forever home.

No prior bird experience is required. We provide all necessary training—only a willingness to learn, a dependable attitude, and a desire to make a meaningful difference are needed.

If you are available on Wednesdays and would like to support our mission of rescuing and caring for parrots in need, we would be grateful to have you join our volunteer team.

Our beautiful Schatzie girl made it back into our aviary today.

When we unexpectedly lost Schatzie in April, a piece of our hearts went with her. She left an irreplaceable void, and there has been a quiet in our aviary ever since—a silence where her playful spirit, sweet personality, and familiar presence should be.

Today, seeing her back where she belongs, even in this beautiful tribute, brought both tears and smiles. While nothing could ever replace her, this incredible piece reminds us that the love we shared with her will always be a part of this place.

I am absolutely blown away by how beautifully this turned out. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who had a hand in creating this incredible tribute. Your kindness, compassion, and talent have given us a way to honor Schatzie's memory every single day.

She may no longer be with us, but she will forever be part of our aviary, our hearts, and our story. Fly high, sweet girl. We love you and miss you every day. ❤️

"There's a snake in my boot!"

Tiny here doesn't let anything keep her down.

For those who aren't familiar with her story, Tiny came to CARE almost a year ago after her owner passed away. We knew very little about her—just a leg band showing she was hatched in 1993.

She was the tiniest Goffin Cockatoo we had ever seen, so we started calling her "Tiny," and the name stuck.

When she arrived, she was in pretty rough shape, so we got her to the vet right away. They discovered a tumor on her o***y that was pressing against her kidney, and they also suspected heart disease. Because of her medical conditions, Tiny is considered a hospice bird.

But if you ask Tiny, none of that slows her down. She spends her days happily playing with her toys, waving to anyone who glances her way, and making absolutely sure her food bowl is empty by the end of the day. She may be small, but her personality is larger than life, and she reminds us every day to enjoy the little things and keep moving forward.
