We had a blast tagging along with Dr. Tom for his ride-along day, and now it’s time to see a day in the life of Dr. Amy!

🎥Dr. Amy, VMD has been with Leatherstocking since 2021, with a degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Her special interests are Production Medicine, Small Animal Surgery.

👀 Stay tuned for Part 2! We’re heading to our sister clinic in Marcy to see Dr. Amy in action with our small-animal patients! 🐾💙

As we look toward Spring 2027, we’ll be making some changes to the reproductive model at Leatherstocking Veterinary Services.

Since opening the clinic, we’ve enjoyed breeding and foaling out a small group of clinic-owned mares, with our entire team playing a role in their care. We’re proud of the mares we’ve bred and the yearlings we’ve raised and sold, and this part of our business has meant a great deal to us.

At the same time, the reality of today’s breeding industry makes it increasingly difficult for a small breeding operation to compete with larger farms and remain financially sustainable. After much thought, we’ve decided it’s time to close this chapter and shift our focus.

Our clinic-owned mares and weanlings will be listed for sale on OnGait.com. They are a wonderful group, and we look forward to finding the right homes for them.

Looking ahead to next spring, our goal is to open our barn exclusively to client-owned mares and stallions, with a smaller, dedicated team focused on their care and reproductive needs.

This isn’t an easy change, especially after the time, care, and heart our team has invested in this program. But we believe it’s the right decision for our business and the direction we need to take moving forward.
