Leatherstocking Veterinary Services would love to showcase all of the amazing animals we care for in our 2027 calendar — and we need your help!

We’re looking for photos featuring horses, cows, sheep, goats, camelids, and more enjoying every season of the year. ❄️☀️🍂🌷

In trying to keep up with the times our newer software does allow for “digital” payments. The office can send a link for a complete or partial payment on your account. It’s very easy compared to mailing a check! Maybe not Apple Pay easy… but pretty close.

🌟 TEAM SPOTLIGHT: Katie-Customer Service Representative 🌟

Katie has been a huge asset to the Leatherstocking team for the past 6 years! As one of the first people our clients see, she always greets them with a smile. Her kind and empathetic nature has made her someone our clients know and trust — so much so that many ask for her by name!

And while Katie is an amazing CSR, she also holds the unofficial title of Coggins Test Queen! 👑🐴

Coggins testing can be a daunting and tedious task, especially during the busy spring season, but Katie handles it all with incredible organization, efficiency, and attention to detail. So far this year, LVS has completed 780 Coggins tests — and we truly could not have successfully accomplished that without Katie!

From juggling phone calls and scheduling appointments to keeping our veterinarians on track and making sure our clients feel taken care of, Katie does so much behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.

We are so grateful to have Katie as part of our Leatherstocking family!

August 15th is National Check the Chip Day! ⚕💊🐴

LVS uses Bio-Thermo® microchips in our equine patients! These microchips provide permanent identification and have temperature-sensing technology—giving you even more valuable information about your horse’s health.

The three main benefits of microchipping your horse are:

• Identification: Microchip identification numbers can be associated with registration papers, or any proof of ownership

• Traceability: Whether it's a natural disaster or a disease outbreak, knowing which horse is yours in an emergency situation is crucial

• Health monitoring: Bio thermo microchips are temperature sensing, so when you scan them, you can see the horse’s temperature. This is a safer method for monitoring temperature especially on young animals!

🌞July Pet of the Month🏖

Name 📛: Stetson
Breed : Nigerian Dwarf
Age🎂: 5 months old
Stetson came to see us with an ouchy leg, accompanied by his biggest fans—his family and kiddos—who made it clear just how loved this sweet guy is!

After a thorough exam, we discovered that Stetson's favorite pastime—parkour (or at least his version of it! 😄)—had left him with a broken leg. Luckily, he was an absolute superstar for his visit. With his calm, sweet personality, Stetson quickly earned the title of one of our easiest goat patients. He sat perfectly still while Dr. Amy took radiographs and carefully fitted him with a cast.

While we have to admit he looks pretty adorable sporting his cast, Stetson is counting down the days until he's back to running, climbing, and jumping around the farm. Maybe that's why he's been such a great patient—he knows every good recovery gets him one step closer to his next adventure!

We're wishing you a smooth recovery, Stetson, and we can't wait to see you back on all four hooves! 💙🐐
