Purebred Rescue Organization of Ohio has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming companion animals for over twenty years. We do not have a kennel location.

[email protected] via www.paypal.com Our rescue is 100% volunteer based. All of our dogs are either in foster homes or in our prison dog training program. Although we do take in owner surrenders, the vast majority of our dogs come from local shelters. Many we pull are older and need additional vetting such as dentals, m

ammary masses, heart murmurs, etc. Our fosters and inmate handlers work to housetrain, crate train, and socialize our dogs and get them ready for adoption. Some of our dogs go through our prison dog training program prior to adoption. The dogs live with the inmates 24/7 during their training, which is typically an average of 4-6 weeks. The inmates are selected to be dog handlers under careful screening and go through a probationary period. We meet weekly with the handlers to get progress updates on the dogs, address questions, concerns, work with them on training techniques, and educate them on breeds, health issues, temperaments, behavior modification, etc.

🐾 RORY IS LOOKING FOR HER FUREVER HOME 🐾

Rory is a 1 year old Boxer / Bulldog mix who weighs about 60lbs!

True to character, Rory is a people pleaser and loves everyone she meets 💞 She warms up quickly and has really gotten good at her commands through the PUPP training program.

What we have also learned through the program is that Rory would do best as the only dog in the home. She is dog selective and not a fan of cats but adores every SINGLE person she’s met!

Rory would be fine with kids as well given her affinity for people. She is crate trained and knows all of her basic commands and ready to find her forever home 🏡

💛 NEW ADOPTABLE 💛

Everyone meet Hunter! 🐾 Hunter and his brother Gunner were recently surrendered to us because their owner had some health concerns and could no longer care for them ❤️‍🩹

Both boys are extremely sweet and ready to find their furever home 🥹 Hunter is a 96lb, 5 year old Golden Retriever. He is looking for a home who will be patient as he adjusts but he just loves everyone!

He is a happy go lucky guy who will need a little reassurance and patience at first as he can be anxious at times but it’s well managed with some trazadone. Otherwise Hunter is your typical lovable Golden!

❗️HEART WORM PREVENTION IS SO IMPORTANT❗️

Unfortunately we recently found out that Max, the chocolate lab pictured below, has heart worms 🥺 This means 3 months of intense treatment and complete bed rest. Heart worms are no joke and so we have started a wishlist for Max of mostly toys to give him some mental stimulation while he’s undergoing treatment since he can’t exercise (https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/20DVITFW0WBVO?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_ggr-subnav-share_TKEM3ENKM7VD75P3S32C&language=en-US)

His treatment will also cost over $800, which is a HUGE bill for the rescue. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated 🫶🏼

Heartworm disease can be fatal to dogs and cats however a simple dose of prevention regularly can prevent this!

Heartworms are parasitic worms spread by infected mosquitoes. Dogs and cats can get heartworm disease YEAR ROUND even when there are seemingly not a lot of mosquitos around. The disease is treatable thankfully but it’s a long process and much healthier for the dog or cat not to get them in the first place!

Dogs should be tested by a veterinarian annually for heart worms and it’s as easy as a simple blood test. Once the test comes back negative, then you can get the prevention from the vet. The reason a test is required is because if a dog has heart worms and then takes prevention, it can be very dangerous.

Prevention can come as oral, topical, or injectable. Bonus, some heartworm preventions also take care of fleas and ticks as well! Talk to your vet about the best prevention option for your animal.

🧡 NEW ADOPTABLE 🧡

Everyone say hi to Boomer! 👋🏼 Boomer is a 3 year old 19lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Just like Redmond, Boomer came to us from CCAWL who rescued him from a puppy mill.

Boomer is actually at the same foster as Redmond and has a similarl personality! Very sweet but timid and takes some time to warm up. Because of this, we think Boomer would prefer a quiet home with no young kids 🏡

He would also like a fenced yard to play in as well as a furry sibling to follow around and show him the ropes of his new home 🐾

One important thing to note is that Boomer has had a few sporadic seizures. Our vet has not recommended medications at this time but it something that a future adopter will need to monitor 🩺

💗 NEW ADOPTABLE 💗

Everyone meet Redmond! Redmond is a 5 year old 22lb red Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He came to us from our rescue partner Champaign County Animal Welfare League 🐾

Redmond is very sweet but shy guy. Having been rescued froma puppy mill we believe he would do best with a furry sibling and fenced in yard 🏡

Redmond hasn’t been around kids much so we think a patient home without young kids would be ideal.

One important thing to note is Redmond does have a very mild heart murmur (grade 1 or 2). It does NOT affect his daily life at all but will just need to be monitored as part of his annual wellness exams 🩺
