I was asked to take a client dog into the church for pictures and later for the ceremony.

Ari was one of the first dogs I trained when I opened my business; he was four months old at the time. He walks down to the church with his owner at 6 pm.

Very cool experience.

We want to welcome Ollie to our 2-week program. He's a big dude, but super sweet. He's got a large list of things that fall into our 2-week program to work on. The two most important are his pulling and his recall. Stay tuned!

Goose, has finished his training with us and headed home. He had a very good go home session.

I was sad to hear he’s moving to Maine to live by the river with his owner in a month. Happy for them, but sad it’s the last time I’ll work with them.

He was such a cool little pup.

Olivia and Peter, have finished their training with me.

Petey, started out this stubborn dog that continued to improve day by day..

Olivia, started super fearful of me…and once she warmed up to me made massive improvements.

Seeing them interact with their owners was very heart warming yesterday. I could tell their dogs loved them as much as they loved their dogs. It made my day.

Olivia showed me a side of her that I had never seen…in our training. When she saw them she went completely crazy.

Seeing how dogs react to being picked up
By their owners is one of my frav things.

Demon is heading home today. He’s been here for boarding and having him this time versus when we had him for training was light years better.

This 135 beast has really grown on me.

The hard dogs can be helped…it just takes the right people, time, and approach.

We’ll be don’t some basic puppy shaping with him while he’s here.

Who remembers Demon, the 6-month-old fear-aggressive Cane Corso I trained a few months back?

He’s back for boarding, and today’s first day with him was so much better than our first day together a few months ago.

At drop-off for his original board and train, this dog came after me — trying to bite me — for about 30 minutes.

Him and I made huge improvements during those two weeks, and his owners have continued putting in the work since he went home.

Honestly, I was a little worried about how he’d act at drop-off now that he’s 135 pounds… but he got out of the truck, I took the leash from the owner, told him to sit, and we were right back in sync.

This is specifically a breed I recommend getting trained as early as possible. A lot of trainers won’t work with them once they get this big.

I’m super happy Demon’s owners stayed invested in him and continued the work after training.

Two pictures one with just him day one of his board and train at 75 pounds, an one of us today with him currently sitting at 135 pounds.

In this video, I’m recording an update for Boss and his owner. His owner has different goals than most of my clients — he wants to enter competitive dog sports with his dog.

So in the video, I briefly explain structured play with the dog.

At this point, I’ve intentionally not used toys much in Boss’s training, so the toy itself actually becomes the distraction.

Toys are amazing for dogs, but I have a different view on them than some trainers.

If you’re only using toys to keep your dog busy, you’re missing a huge opportunity to build both a stronger relationship and a higher level of obedience.

Toys should help build engagement between the dog and the handler. In order for that to happen, the fun has to come from the interaction between the owner and the dog — not just the dog entertaining itself with the toy.

The toy shouldn’t become more important than the handler. The toy should become part of the relationship.

In this video, I’m working with Goose, the 7-month-old puppy.

We’re working on a number of things, and he’s really coming along.

One thing I do with every dog as a starting technique is walk backward with them and teach the dog to follow me.I do this for a few reasons:

1. It teaches the dog to come to me on the release, which carries over to recalls.

2. It helps with pulling.

3. It builds the dog’s awareness of me. This is important because it carries over to walking politely on a leash.
