A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our school supply drive for the Menasha Blue Jays, to Meadow’s Little Kitchen, and to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for their incredibly generous donation.

Our friends at Wood Violet Montessori and Fox Valley Montessori Academy also rallied their little learners around the cause too. The smallest AAH Neenah volunteers had fun sorting through everything, and we’re so grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another.

The Menasha Joint School District is also still accepting donations for families impacted by the tornado. More info on that in the comments.

Veterinary medicine is changing, and pet owners may not always know who owns the clinic caring for their animals.

This recent PBS NewsHour story is worth watching for every pet owner. It looks at the growing role of private equity and corporate ownership in veterinary medicine, rising costs, and why transparency around clinic ownership matters.

We are proud to have been locally owned and operated since 1973. The people responsible for our practice work here, care for patients here, and are part of the community we serve. Decisions about medicine, staffing, services, and the future of our clinic are made locally.

Independent ownership does not shield us from the rising costs affecting veterinary medicine. It does mean that our decisions remain rooted in what we believe is best for our patients, clients, team, and community.

For more than 50 years, local ownership has been an important part of who we are, and we remain committed to preserving that independence for the future.

Curious about clinic ownership in our area? We’ve shared an additional third-party resource in the comments below!

Veterinary care is becoming increasingly expensive for American pet owners. As prices rise, attention is turning to a major shift in the industry: private equity firms and large corporations buying up veterinary practices across the country. Paul Solman has the story.

This past school year, our oldest daughter became a Menasha Bluejay.

Her first year of 4K was made remarkable by the teachers, support staff, administrators, parents and little kiddos who welcomed her into such a wonderful school community.

When the tornado came through on Monday, our immediate concern was for the safety of our staff, clients and neighbors living in the affected areas. Soon after, my thoughts turned to our daughter’s school community and the families we’ve gotten to know over the past year.

Menasha has become more than a neighboring community to us. It’s school-pickup conversations while trying to stop my youngest from climbing onto a school bus. It’s dance parties in the gym, sharing Kwik Trip doughnuts and swapping stories about the chaos and joy of raising young children.

Over the last few days, our staff and I have heard stories from people affected by the tornado - some firsthand and others through their friends and families. Behind every damaged home is a person or family trying to figure out what comes next.

Many of you have asked how you can help. We know it can be difficult to determine what is most needed and how to make sure donations reach local families directly.

The Menasha Joint School District and Mobile Health Team in Neenah are currently collecting clothing and back-to-school items for families affected by the storm. In addition to clothing and traditional school supplies, they are looking for:

• Backpacks
• Lunch bags
• Water bottles
• Other school essentials

We will be accepting donations in our clinic lobby during regular business hours and will deliver everything to the Mobile Health Team’s office, where Menasha district staff will sort and distribute the items.

Meadow’s Little Kitchen has been able to support local families for more than a year because of the generosity of this community. We don’t often need to make a public call for donations, but right now, our neighbors could use our help.

These are our clients, classmates, friends and fellow Fox Valley families 💕💕

Just a reminder that Meadow’s Little Kitchen (our pet food bank) also takes donations of pet items. If you’d like to donate items you can do so inside the clinic as well as at the donation box outside. A number of our staff members live in the tornado impacted area and know many members of the community that would benefit from a helping hand over the next little while 💕🐾

Due to the storm we will be closed this afternoon to give our staff the chance to check in on their homes and loved ones. Thank you for understanding. We will be back to normal business hours tomorrow.

For existing clients, if you are having an emergency we are still available via our after hours support line.

The last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind, both at the clinic and at home.

Somewhere between long days at the hospital, after hours calls, bike rides, hanging out in beautiful downtown Neenah and getting back out on Lake Winnebago, I realized we haven’t shared much lately.

So here’s a little photo dump from life lately. Just some moments from March through May around Neenah with the kids and the community we’re grateful to be part of.

Running a veterinary clinic can be exhausting and unpredictable at times, but one thing I never take for granted is getting to do it alongside such an incredible team, in a place that truly feels like home.

To everyone who continues to support local businesses and trust us with your pets, thank you. It means more than you probably realize.

We’re grateful for the busy days, family time, warmer weather and the opportunity to continue caring for pets in this community. And if you’re looking for a veterinary home for your pet, we’d be honoured to meet you.
