Oh, sweet Gary. I miss you so much. You weren't so sure about me at first, but then we settled into a nice groove. I always looked forward to our time together.

I just received a message from this morning's client: "So I made the mistake of saying 'Rachel's coming today!' a little early. Now he is standing at the window and whining."

Say hello to my new clients - Kodi, a Belgian Malinois, and Sender, a Border Collie/Whippet mix! Kodi is a retired sport dog whose mom wants her staying healthy and active as she moves into her senior years. Sender is new to the sport dog world and learning to run flyball races, a high speed/high impact activity that can tax and strain the body. Don't worry ladies, massage will support you in all the stages of your life, helping you feel good and perform at your best level!

Regular exercise is so important in a pet care regiment and can keep your senior dogs healthy well into their golden years. Old age is no reason to stop moving so take a few minutes each day to get outside!

🗓️🐾 January is National Walk Your Dog Month! Wondering about exercise for senior dogs? It's crucial for their health and happiness! While age might slow them down, it's not a reason to stop exercising. 🏃‍♀️🐶

👵🏻 When is a dog a “senior”? Good question! This varies by breed and size:
- Giant breeds: 6-7 years old
- Large breeds: 7-8 years old
- Medium breeds: 8-10 years old
- Small breeds: 11-12 years old

💪 Exercise helps prevent issues like arthritis and obesity. Even 30-60 minutes daily can make a huge difference! Focus on low-impact activities like slow walks, puzzles, and indoor games. Always consult your vet for the best routine.

☑️ Check out alternative exercises like scatter feeding, figure-8 walking, water walks, and mental stimulation games. Remember, it's about keeping them mobile, not exhausting them!

👀 Watch for signs of discomfort and adjust the routine accordingly. For seniors with arthritis, modify exercises and consider, under vet guidance, massage therapy from a reputable business such as the local Dog Star Canine Massage.

🏊‍♂️ If your dog won’t slow down,
try swimming, loose-leash walks, or mental stimulation activities. Keep an eye on their limits, especially in warmer weather.

🐕 Exercise enhances your old friend’s life quality and longevity. Get them moving for a happier, healthier senior life! 🐾🩵
