🌿✨ Kokedama Workshop – June 13! ✨🌿

Have you ever admired the beauty of a kokedama and wondered how they're made?

Join us on Saturday, June 13 at 10am or 1pm as we explore the art of kokedama, the Japanese-inspired practice of growing plants in a moss-covered soil ball.

For this workshop, we'll be using pre-made kokedama bases, allowing everyone to focus on planting and design while learning the fundamentals behind creating your own from scratch. We'll discuss:

🌱 What a kokedama is and its history
🪴 The best soil mixes and materials to use
💧 Proper watering and long-term care
☀️ Light requirements and placement tips
🌿 How to successfully grow plants in a kokedama

Each participant will create their own living display by planting 3–4 succulents into a kokedama to take home and enjoy.

Does a healthy garden have to look perfect? In this solo episode of The Compost Pile, David takes a walk through the garden to explore what plants are really telling us. From yellowing leaves and nutrient deficiencies to fungi, pest damage, caterpillar host plants, and sprawling tomato vines, we discuss why imperfection is often a sign of a thriving ecosystem—not a failing garden.

Learn how to read visual clues from your plants, understand when action is needed (and when it's not), and build confidence as a gardener by focusing on function over appearance.

Whether you're growing vegetables, flowers, or a backyard food forest in Southeast Texas or beyond, this episode will help you see your garden through a different lens.
