In addition to owning A Furry Tail Come True with my wife Jessica and AFT Dog Training, from 2012 to 2022 I have served as board member, Treasurer, and Vice President for The Center for Animal Health & Welfare. I worked as the Head Dog Trainer at Common Sense for Animals in New Jersey, a member of the Big Dog Council for the Lehigh County Humane Society and a Professional Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. AFT dog training is well versed in various dog behavior issues and obedience training. We offer group classes, private one-on-one classes as well as board and train programs.

Sometimes dog training looks like obedience drills, and sometimes it looks like two people standing in a yard having a serious conversation while the dog wonders what everyone is talking about🤣 But behind the scenes, we’re working on much more than commands—we’re building communication, clarity, confidence, and reliability. Dogs thrive when they understand what is expected of them and their handlers know how to communicate those expectations, especially with a working breed like Klaus here. That’s what turns training into a real-life skill instead of just something they do during a session.

Some more photos from our class last week at the Promenade Shoppes! When we told the parents that our next session would be here, all of them expressed some sort of nerves or hesitation with taking their dog out in a public setting like that. In our program, it is imperative that we equip both the owners and their dogs with the skills needed to be able to navigate busy places. Having experiences like this built into the classes are important to us, because we never want anyone leaving the class feeling unprepared, and this helps us make sure of that. Everyone did an amazing job!

The dogs cooling off this morning during our pack walk! They all came from different backgrounds and came into the program with different issues to address but regardless of that, every single one of them was able to coexist and walk beautifully with our pack. It was a great morning!

This is about a 2 hour hike overall so please dress appropriately. Please bring all training tools with you. We suggest the long line leash paired with a walking tool (prong collar, e-collar, etc.)

🚨Anyone is welcome, but you MUST RSVP in order to have a spot if you have not already and want to come. You can do so by commenting on any of the posts regarding this pack walk or private messaging us on our page. We need all RSVPs in by Friday night in order to have a headcount by Saturday morning🚨

It was time to take the class into the real world! Now that all of the dogs have the necessary knowledge and skills, it is time to apply what they have learned so far. We walked around the Promenade Shoppes, passing other people, dogs, cars, and just about any other distraction you can think of being out in public like that. In this session, we took the class into dog-friendly stores, and some owners said that this is the very first time their dog has ever been inside a store before because they never felt confident enough. We also showed everyone how to use the things around them to solidify their dog’s training, which you can see here. Something as simple as weaving in and out of these pillars using treats to guide your dog can greatly improve their loose leash walking, especially having to do it with distractions all around.

Our class is at the point where it is time to start applying what they have learned in the outside world, where many distractions are present. We always build the foundational behaviors first, and then once all the dogs and their owners are confident with what they have learned so far, it is time to put it to the test! This class is crushing it so far and it’s only the third session. By the end of the program, these dogs will graduate with a whole new set of skills to help them navigate the world.

🎉Our popular AFT Pack Walks are back!!!

💥ALL AFT Dog Training Alumni💥 are invited. There were so many of you through the years and we would love to see some of you there!!

😍This is a great time to catch up, hang out and show off your dogs skills!
We will go over techniques and help you on anything you need to improve on or struggling with.

🐶We have had such a great time seeing everyone and hearing how things are going with your dog(s).
💸 This event is free. 💸
Please bring all training tools with you. We suggest the long line leash for this hike along with the walking tool i.e. prong collar and/or .

🥾🧥Please dress appropriately as we will be hiking through the paths in the woods. Those that have done this hike with us in the past, know its about a 2 hour session.
Please feel free to bring the family and kids too. If we haven't see you in a while, even if you had a new dog join your household, please bring them along too!

I took this video on our walk at the end of our training class the other night to document something that serves as a testimony to hard work and commitment. Kasper, the white westie in this video, struggled with severe leash reactivity and could not be anywhere close to other dogs. He “failed” another training program three times. The truth is, it just took the right training methods and tools to help him. This is only session #3, and not only is he able to do a pack walk in such close proximity to other dogs, but we ended the session with an off-leash social and he did amazing. There is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing a dog take their walls down, realize they are safe, and have the trust and confidence to look to their owner for direction (who can now also take a deep breath). Dogs coming into the program with these issues is common, and Kasper is a testament to how far they can come!
