Flowers starting next weekend 🌸

In the meantime ….my garden friends and I wait patiently for the blooms to unfold💕🌸💕🌸💕

The early spring may call the bold,
And bright Narcissus break the cold,
But not all hearts are wired to race,
Some find their strength in steady pace.

For roots must stretch and hold the ground,
Before the masterpiece is found.
There is no rush to meet the sun,Until the inner work is done.

So let the meadow bloom and sway,
And take your own unhurried way;
For every blossom, frail or grand,
Unfolds exactly as it planned.

Here’s the perennials that are blooming this week at Petit Flower Farm 🌱🌸💐

Iris (it smells like grape Kool Aide)
Bleeding hearts
Foxglove
Allium
Columbine
Forget me not ( I will share a story about these in another post )
Euphorbia
Lupine
Speedwell
Moth mullein

There’s a lot of work to do this week - getting the rest of the herbs and flowers in the ground, some pest pressure on a few zinnia and dahlias, and beginning to w**d the shade garden.
Also starting some specialty sunflowers for later in the season.

With the sound of the birds singing and all of the water fountains going …..I am counting every moment spent in the garden all Joy🌱🌸💐

This is it friends - It’s planting time!🌱

Petit Flower Farm stand is restocked OPEN till 5:00. (Flowers coming in another week or two)

Here’s some of my top tips/ things I use for healthy robust plants -

1. Pro-mix potting soil - constantly wonderful product for flower pots and growing medium.

2. When planting seedlings in the ground - I dip roots in Myco Bliss which helps the roots quickly venture out and not become root bound.

3. As much as you can - buy local for healthy thriving plants.
There’s lots of garden clubs and farm stands with starter plants.
I currently have Love Lies Bleeding (sun), Strawflowers (sun) , Thai Sage ( sun), Sweet woodruff ( shade) grown from seed and ready for planting outside - $3.00 each pot of 3.
I believe The Naugatuck Garden club has a sale coming up.

4. For pest control - I surround my beds with marigold , lavender , sage, mountain mint and other herbs.

Keeping a beautiful synergy of good and bad bugs is the goal. Never use pesticides- ever.
If you must use neem, Captain Jack’s or soapy water - do so at dusk.

To keep w**ds down ( I get poke w**d in the back of my yard where my flowers beds are ) I use Amazon boxes covered in cedar chips around all of my flower beds.

For poison ivy - vinegar water with salt.

It can take a few years and some bug pressure is part of life now and then.

The stand is stocked up - come by today until 5:00.
