Jesus very practically teaches the qualifications for inheriting the kingdom of God when He states, “I was hungry, and you fed me.” Our mandate to feed the hungry has not changed in 2000 years, and it must remain our priority now! Cul2vate seeks to engage poverty at the point of hunger and deliver nutritional food to those who are hungry. Our work is founded upon two principles intertwined for the betterment of its farmers. The first is the most important - providing for the nourishment of the body and the soul! Through the food production in our “tunnels”, we are decreasing the food desert in Middle Tennessee by growing superior quality vegetables and increasing nutritional accessibility to those who are hungry. The second principle creates an opportunity for future full-time employment for our farmers by providing much needed life skills and business skills training. These tunnel sites are the training grounds for those who want to break the generational cycle of poverty by learning to feed themselves and others through agriculture and employment.

What do families receive when they get a Cul2vate Real Food Box?

Meat 🥓:

Families receive an assortment of meat, including beef from Jeff Green at Green Farm Ministries and beef and pork through Meat the Need. This protein donation initiative is distributed by the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association, and Tennessee Pork Producers. The pork comes from Tosh Farms, while the beef is provided by Garrison Valley Farms.

Shelf-Stable Goods 🍞:

Rice, beans, pasta, and other pantry items are provided through Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Produce 🍅:

Fruits and vegetables are grown right here at Cul2vate’s farms across Middle Tennessee and added to each Real Food Box.

Eggs 🥚:

Jeff Green at Green Farm Ministries provides fresh, local eggs for recipients.

The weather may have postponed the festivities but it didn't stop them! Come join us Saturday, October 17th for You Pick Pumpkins, a morning of fall fun for the whole family.

Pick lovingly grown pumpkins for your fall decor, baking needs, and carving fun. Admission is free and each pumpkin purchase goes to fighting food insecurity and providing meaningful work for our neighbors.
