π¦ Meet the Intern! πΈ
Hi everyone! I'm Remco, a final-year veterinary student at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and one of ARAV's Social Media Interns.
Although reptiles and amphibians have always had a special place in my heart (one day I'll finally have my own Amazon milk frog!! πΈ), my interests extend across zoo, wildlife, and conservation medicine. Over the past few years, I've been lucky enough to complete externships and placements at zoos, wildlife rescue centres, clinics, and research institutions around the world, working with an incredible variety of species along the way.
These days, I'm particularly interested in infectious diseases, preventive medicine, wildlife population health, and finding ways to better connect research with everyday clinical practice.
Outside of my studies, I'm usually travelling to weird places, off h**ping, or just chilling out at home. I also work a part-time field job in bat research, so don't be surprised if you catch me out and about in the middle of the night!
What I love about working with ARAV is getting to help share the incredible work being done by clinicians, researchers, and conservationists from around the world - it's a great way to help make h**p knowledge more accessible for vets and students alike. I've really enjoyed contributing to ARAV's social media so far, and I'd love to connect with more of you along the way. If you share an interest in reptiles, amphibians, zoo medicine, conservation, or wildlife research (or just want to talk bats and frogs!), feel free to reach out or drop a comment, I'd love to hear from you!
