An eight year old Dachshund presented for evaluation of stage 2 periodontal disease. In order to maintain periodontal health, at home care will be extremely important. Brushing at least 3 times a week with an enzymatic toothpaste is the gold standard of home care. 🪥

A canine patient presented for a gingival mass near the right mandibular canine, as seen on cone beam CT imaging. An excisional biopsy was performed to remove the mass, along with extensive gingivoplasty and minor bone removal. The histopathological diagnosis revealed the mass as Fibromatous Hyperplasia of the Gingival Ligament (FHGL), also known as peripheral odontogenic fibroma. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
