A quiet moment before an exam. Every patient and pet parent who comes through our doors gets our full attention, because caring for scared, uncertain owners is just as much a part of the job as the medicine.

Let’s clear this up: you do NOT need a referral to book with us. Many pet owners wait weeks with a painful eye issue simply because they don’t know they could come straight to a specialist.

If something seems off with your pet’s eyes, you’re always welcome to call us directly. Learn more about scheduling at https://vostn.com.

If you notice any of these, don't wait it out; some conditions can threaten vision within hours. We see patients directly, no referral needed. See the full list of conditions we treat at vostn.com.

For 35 years, our team has been the region's dedicated resource for veterinary eye care, because pets deserve specialists too.

We're honored to have earned the trust of so many families (and their vets) across Tennessee and beyond. This is just the beginning, and we're glad you're here to get to know us.

Not every vet who treats eye issues is trained the same way. Our doctors are board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists, specialists who complete years of additional training focused only on eyes.

That means more advanced diagnostics, more treatment options, and real experience with cataracts, ulcers, and glaucoma. And yes, you can come straight to us. No referral required. Learn more about our team at vostn.com.

If there's one thing we wish more pet owners knew, it's that veterinary ophthalmology exists, and you're allowed to ask for it. If your pet has a lingering eye issue, a cloudy or red eye that hasn't resolved, or your vet has mentioned "keeping an eye" on something, it's worth asking whether a specialist referral makes sense.

Board-certified ophthalmologists like our team work alongside your regular vet, not instead of them, to protect your pet's vision over the long term. Find your nearest VOS location at vostn.com.

For 35 years, VOS has worked as an extension of general practice teams across Middle and East Tennessee, not a replacement for them. When you refer a case to us, your client remains your client, and we send detailed records back to ensure continuity of care isn't lost.

Our team handles everything from routine exams to complex surgery, glaucoma procedures, and cataract removal, and we're accessible across Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Chattanooga. Referral resources and our online form are at vostn.com.

Not every visit to a veterinary ophthalmologist is about an emergency; a comprehensive exam is also one of the best preventive tools available, especially as pets age or if they belong to breeds prone to eye conditions.

Catching subtle changes early, before there's pain or vision loss, is almost always easier to treat. If it's been a while since your pet's eyes were checked, this is a good place to start. Schedule at vostn.com.

If you breed or plan to breed purebred dogs, a CAER exam (Companion Animal Eye Registry) screens for hereditary eye diseases before they're passed on to the next litter.

It's a straightforward exam performed by a board-certified ophthalmologist, with results used by breeders making pairing decisions and by the OFA to track eye disease trends across breeds.

Many breed clubs recommend or require current CAER results, and our team performs these exams at all three of our clinics. It's a small step that protects a breed's long-term health and gives future puppy owners peace of mind. Details at vostn.com.
