Training SPOT

Training SPOT I am a Behavior consultant for the dog and a body language and leash specialist for their human! I can help with basic or advanced obedience training.

My name is Tonia Floyd and I am a certified professional dog trainer. I love all dogs, from puppies to shelter dogs and will work with a wide range of problems and issues. I also work with behavior modification of all dogs and have multiple rescue organizations I work with to make life better for behaviorally challenged dogs and make sure they and their new owners have all the help they need. I

will do an in home evaluation and come up with a plan for you and your family based on your needs. At that point you can choose to work with your dog in your home or at the Training Spot Ranch, located 20 minutes outside of Nashville. I also offer boarded residency programs, where your dog stays at the Ranch for multiple day training sessions and then you are taught the commands with your dog when I bring them home to you and we do the follow up sessions. In addition to obedience training, I do socialization training with a balanced pack, dog integrations and use my pack to teach dogs things we can’t. Call to set up an evaluation or an appointment to come out and check out the Training Spot Ranch!

This is exactly why I love what I do. I hate that I have to do it, but knowing there's an answer makes me fight for them to be better and it also makes me fight for others to never have to live this terrible life.

I love people that make fun of their dogs! This is great and explains the plethora of German shepherds I've had in my life.

In honor of National German Shepherd Day today, I’d like to take a moment to tell you a bit about each of my own GSDs.

I’ll go from left to right to make things easier.

First, we have Squirrel. She was the last addition to our family, the only female, and by far the smallest. But let me assure you - that means absolutely nothing. The bitch is CRAZY.

She can be incredibly sweet when she wants to be, but most of the time she acts like the Energizer Bunny went on a three day coke binge & developed severe anxiety afterwards. Constant movement & constant chaos. She doesn’t have an off switch.

She is also a shining example of why we NEVER accept parking lot puppies being handed out from the back of a car.

Next, we have Chomper. My very first German Shepherd & the dog that made me completely fall in love with the breed. He is intelligent, obedient, loyal, gentle, and genuinely one of the best dogs you could ever ask for.

Unfortunately, he also gave me an extremely false sense of confidence & tricked me into believing all German Shepherds would be like him.

That misunderstanding eventually led me to acquire two more.

A mistake I will never financially or emotionally recover from.

And finally… Moose.

The middle child. The attention w***e. The self proclaimed king of this household.

He is absolutely stunning & very aware of it. Unfortunately, beauty is where the list of strengths starts & ends...

This dog has:
•no survival instincts
•no emotional regulation
•no situational awareness
•and roughly the same problem solving abilities as a rotisserie chicken

He’s petrified of frogs.
He loses fights with inanimate objects.
And if a murderer broke into our house, there’s a solid chance Moose would point him in our direction in exchange for a singular chicken nugget.

But despite all of that… I wouldn’t trade any of them for the world.

(Except maybe Moose for the right amount of money. This economy is tough.)

Serena • 6 Months • Spayed Female

Meet Serena!

Serena is a sweet, affectionate puppy who’s ready to find her forever home. She absolutely loves to cuddle but also has plenty of energy for playtime and adventures. Whether it’s going for walks, enjoying her favorite treats, or rolling over for belly rubs, Serena brings joy to every moment.

She’s wonderful with kids and gets along great with dogs of all sizes, making her a fantastic addition to a multi-dog household. Serena is also very smart and a quick learner—she’s already potty trained and even rings a bell to let you know when she needs to go outside!

Serena would do best in a home with a physically fenced yard where she can safely run and play. She hasn’t had experience with cats yet.

If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and clever companion, Serena might be the perfect match for you.
