Hi there, my name is Leo and it is very nice to meet you. I am a 5-year-old Golden Retriever mix awaiting a forever home of my very own here in New Jersey. You see, I was adopted two years back through GHR, though, my owner grew ill and could no longer take care of me. Even though I am a bit sad I am no longer with him, I am very happy and thankful he surrendered me back to Home for Good because now I have another chance to find the forever family of my dreams!

I am a dapper young man – my foster mom tells me I have the most handsome golden fluffy coat. I love nothing more than to be surrounded by people that I love. I am most definitely a people pleaser and the perfect definition of “man’s best friend”. I go everywhere with my foster mom and wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, I would do best as the only dog in my home so I can be spoiled and at the center of attention at all times. Older children would be great to have in my forever home, though!

Even though I am 5 years old, I enjoy my walks and exploring my foster’s fenced-in yard. I have not lost one pep in my step. I also enjoy chewing on squeaky toys and lounging on the comfy couch. I am for sure the best TV-watching partner on the planet! I sleep through the night on a dog bed and am also housebroken. I will make such a great addition to really any family!

*We are now looking for a home for Abe*

During a routine stop at Dublin Port on Friday evening Customs Officers stopped a van and at the back of it all alone was this one little puppy. He was seized by Customs Officers and the driver surrendered him to over as he was being transported in an unsafe manner.

Little Abe was checked over by our vet team and as you can see he was underweight and very frightened. He was so good with the vets and was happy for them to handle him, vaccinate him and cuddle him. He was very hungry and enjoyed a tasty meal before he went out to a his new home.

Abe is just 4 months old and thanks to our continued work with Custom Officers at Dublin Port he is going to have a wonderful life and no doubt Santa will visit him in his new home.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Customs Officers at Dublin Port for their continued vigilance and disruption of the illegal movement on puppies. Investigations are on going.

Like most older and wiser dogs they all have so many stories to tell. Unfortunately for some they are not ones of happiness or love. Our brave boy Rex is sadly one of them. He was found as a stray and our inspector called out to collect him. It was clear that Rex belonged to someone but with no microchip sadly we had no proof.

When he arrived into the shelter with our inspector he was groaning and trembling and had very bad diarrhea. His body was also very cold. Rex was unable to stand up without help from our vets and once standing he struggled and his legs went from underneath him 💔. With support he managed a few steps but his limbs still trembled. That was over a month ago and since then he is like a new man. Every day we were by his side helping him and encouraging him to stand and walk and everyday he tried his best to take that one more step. He has become one of the favourites here with staff with everyone wanting to know how he’s doing. His face lights up when he sees you coming and it just fills a place in your heart like only a pet with unconditional love can do.

Rex can now go for walks and he is doing really well and we are so incredibly proud of him. We are looking for that someone special for 10 year old Rex and we hope that his story will have the happiest of endings.

Adoption Appeal For Max The Collie ❤

Today is all about our clever boy Max the Collie and finding him a home. Anyone who every owned or known collies will know how incredibly smart they are and our Max certainly won’t disappoint!

Over a year ago Max was found as a stray and he and he was adopted. Unfortunately it didn’t work out with his family and so he came back to the shelter and sadly he hasn’t had much interest since. Max absolutely loves playing fetch with tennis balls and getting out and exploring all things nature. When he first arrived to the shelter he barked at other dogs when he was on the lead however our amazing adoptions team and trainers helped Max overcome this and he now walks great on the lead and there’s not a peep out of him. We told he was very smart!

Max needs a home where he is the only dog as Max doesn’t really like to share his tennis balls with other dogs. He has made a few doggie friends here at the shelter and can make more once he is introduced to them in the correct way. He would really love a family who would be dedicated to continuing on his socialisation as his progression has been great and should not be given up on.

At 6 years old he is an old soul at heart and one of his favourite pastimes when in the home is lying in front of the fire while his humans chill out. Can you give this boy a chance and loving home that he so deserves or do you know someone who could? Share his story and lets make today Max Day!
