Has anyone ever told you about life with a husky?

This breed is not for the faint heart. Let me introduce you to this blue eyed beauty, Draper. 🩵
Owning a dog in general is a huge responsibility let alone a Husky who does things one way - AND ITS NOT YOUR WAY 🙃 They need lots of teething toys to occupy them, they may even be a sock thief like draper. If you tell them no, they think yes 🤪 They want to go somewhere? Escape artists. Drinking Water? Favorite Sport! So yes, the potty is too! Huskys take consistent training and will only thrive under patience and lots of it. They are a breed that requires high exercise and mental stimulation. Yes, they will outsmart you and do not take this as a challenge (you are the trainer) & Of course, do not forget their grooming appointments with a Deshed 😉

I will be honest on why I wanted to share this story with you. Being in this industry I have a lot of experience with many breeds, sizes, ages, tempormants etc. and my most challenging of all, are these beauties. I have seen some posts of lost huskies and some with a demeanor carrying fear from their training and maybe owners. This, breaks my heart when I see people get breeds without understanding the nature of them, how to care for them and how much responsibility it takes to care for any dog for 10+ years. Dogs are gods gift to us, here to offer unconditional love. We may not be able to save every dog in shelters but taking one decision to think twice & truly know you are ready for the companionship can change the directory of these soulful lives. 🐾

I support you, Nashville Zoo. Just because we can burn down all the trees, wipe out millions of acres of land country wide, & place these centers knowing it degrades natural habitat and wildlife behavior next to zoos, does not mean we should.

Because of your incredible support, we're celebrating an important victory. BL2026-1448, the temporary moratorium on new large-scale data centers, and BL2026-1391, establishing important protections for future data center development, both passed unanimously. In addition, the Mayor's eminent domain proposal passed its second reading.

More than 562,000 people signed our petition, Metro Council meetings saw record-breaking public turnout and our community made its voice impossible to ignore. Thank you to everyone who signed, shared, emailed, called and showed up!

These actions are a significant step in the right direction. Though DC Blox now owns the property, the temporary moratorium pauses permit approvals until after December 1.

While this is meaningful progress, our work isn't over. We remain committed to ensuring the proposed data center is not built adjacent to Nashville Zoo and we hope DC Blox recognizes the overwhelming message from our community and abandons its plans for this location.

We will continue working to protect the Zoo, the more than 3,000 animals in our care and the communities that call Nashville Zoo their neighbor.
