Adley is a legit couch potato with a heart full of joy and confidence. This happy girl absolutely loves people, she greets the world with a big smile and an even bigger personality. If you’re looking for a dog who is secure in who she is and ready to soak up all your attention, Adley is your girl.

SO YOU WANT TO ADOPT A VRC DOG?

We see a lot of comments about our adoption policies, and while we know they come from a good place, sometimes the information being shared isn’t quite accurate.
So let’s clear a few things up! 👇

❌ MYTH: “Adoption fees and travel costs are thousands of dollars.”
✅ FACT: Nope! Our adoption fee is $300, and we do NOT charge travel fees. Many of our dogs are even Virtually Adopted, meaning their adoption fee has already been sponsored by one of our amazing supporters!

Every dog arrives:
✔️ Spayed/Neutered
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Medically cleared
✔️ Heartworm negative

❌ MYTH: “VRC doesn’t adopt to homes with cats.”
✅ FACT: We absolutely do! We do have dogs that are cat-friendly and can happily share their home with feline friends. We simply won’t place a dog who isn’t cat-friendly into a home with cats.

❌ MYTH: “VRC doesn’t adopt to homes with children.”
✅ FACT: Not true! We evaluate our dogs around children of different ages to help determine what type of family would be the best fit for each individual dog.

❌ MYTH: “VRC won’t adopt to homes with multiple dogs.”
✅ FACT: We absolutely will! We have had many successful adoptions into multi-dog households. We just take extra care to make sure personalities, energy levels, and play styles are a good match.

❌ MYTH: “VRC only adopts in Louisiana.”
✅ FACT: We deliver our dogs across the United States! 🇺🇸 One of the most unique things about our adoptions is that we personally transport our dogs to their new homes. (Shout out to our road warrior QUEEN Debbie!) We work hard to get every dog where they belong, no matter the distance.

❌ MYTH: “VRC doesn’t adopt to people who live in RVs or travel in semi trucks.”
✅ FACT: We have had several successful adoptions in both situations! What matters is whether the individual dog’s needs fit your lifestyle.

❌ MYTH: “You must have a fence.”
✅ FACT: Not always! Some dogs will require fenced yards. Some require specific fence heights. Others do perfectly well without one. Every adoption is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The biggest thing we want people to know?

Our adoption process is designed to find the BEST match possible. Even if the dog you initially apply for isn’t the perfect fit for your home, our adoption coordinators work incredibly hard to help you find the right one.

DOODLE MIX SIBLINGS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME(S)!

Meet Soren and Aiko!

💛Soren is a handsome 1 year old doodle mix who definitely got more of the yellow lab look and coat. He can a little shy at first, especially in new situations but you can tell how badly this big baby wants to be loved.

He is super dog-friendly and really benefits from having a confident dog friend around to show him that the world isn’t so bad. Every day he is learning, gaining confidence and letting more of his goofy personality out!

Soren is crate trained and LOVES toys!
One of his favorite moves is dramaticlly flopping onto his back to demand all the belly rubs he can collect.

🖤Aiko is a 1 year old doodle mix with the more classic doodle type coat. She is shyer than her brother and needs a little patience and understanding when meeting new people and experincing new things.

Give this girl some time to trust you and you suddenly have met a completely different dog. She has the silliest personality and loves bouncing around the yard. She is crate trained!

She also LOVES other dogs, and would do best with another dog around to help grow her confidence.

✨Although they are not bonded, they could be adopted together, or just having another confident sibiling would be the perfect match for them.✨

❤️ BUTTHEAD NEEDS SOME LOVE ❤️

Our cat ladies recently noticed that something just wasn’t right with one of Butthead’s eyes. After a visit with our vet and some testing, we got the news we were hoping to avoid. The eye is causing our sweet guy a significant amount of discomfort, and our vet has recommended that the best thing for Butthead is to have it removed.

He is heading into surgery this morning!❤️‍🩹

We know the thought of removing an eye sounds scary, but for Butthead, this surgery means something much more important: relief.
No more living with an eye that hurts him.
No more discomfort. Just the chance to heal, adjust, and get back to being the Butthead we all know and love.

And if you know cats, you know losing an eye certainly isn’t going to stop this guy. He’ll just have twice the attitude concentrated into one!

As you can imagine, between his testing, veterinary care, surgery, medications, and recovery, another medical bill is headed our way.
