Pio and Gracie. Our 4th walk together and this is pretty much the goal. A loose leash and (pretty much) focused dogs. Pio looks to me consistently for direction and Gracie is learning. She’s smaller and older so it will take a little more time. But I’m so happy so far. Well keep working on this and adding in their over reacting to other dogs as we go. As they focus more and more on me the training will become easier!

My happy place at home. The potting shed and garden around it. Redd and Bam-Bam have their outdoor enclosures there also. The new orchids are hanging for now on the potting shed until I can place them. I live our home.

As a long time pet (and horse) owner I’ve personally owned, as well as cared for, many senior pets as well as pets (and horses) with injuries. SonnyRae Laser has helped not only my personal pets, but my clients’ pets. This is Abby, a 14 1/2 year old King Charles Cavalier. She gets a monthly prescription injection for arthritis, (librela which I administer promptly once a month), as well as dasuquin, but has slowed down quite a bit. I’ve been walking her and her brother and sisters every day for approximately 8 years so I’ve known her a long time and have seen how she has aged. About 3 months ago I contacted Stacy at SonnyRae Laser and asked about putting Abby on her schedule. Stacy and the owner connected and they started treatments. Abby is now on a once per week maintenance schedule with Stacy and today I took these videos of her. This is also the day that she got her librela injection. (She has been getting the injections for over a year and if you know about this medication, towards the end of the month it does wear off and she should be more sore because of this, but she’s not!). Abby had been having issues getting up off the tile with slipping. This, I believe, is because of soreness from compensating for the arthritis. She was also only walking on the grass and extremely slowly before Stacy started her treatments. Today (as she does now) she was doing her little “jog” happily as we walked! If you have a senior pet who has slowed down and is having issues with arthritis, I highly recommend contacting Stacy and setting up an appointment to see if she can help you! I wish I had before videos of her slipping as she tried to get up, and walking extremely slowly and only on the grass! I’m so thankful (as is Abby’s owner) for Stacy and her cold laser therapy!!

When they’re so happy to see me, they run and get their favorite toy for me! 🥰🥰

Now offering training walks! Walking should be enjoyable for both the person and the pets! Dogs that are unruly, pulling, barking and leaping up and down are not only not fun, but unsafe to walk. No one passing by wants to be barked at, and your chances of tripping and falling over dogs that are zig zagging in front and behind you or pulling in every direction are great. Teaching your pet to walk safely on a leash, not reacting to people, cars, and other animals is key in creating a safe, enjoyable walk. But it takes PATIENCE. I walk and constantly redirect the pets’ attention to me and away from distractions. These two thought the leash was a “free for all” to run out the door, pulling and leaping, barking at everything they saw. So, we spend time on our walks sitting and waiting…using three words…Sit…Wait…and Come ..so I’m clearly communicating what I expect. They have fun of course on their walks, but they’ve become less distracted and much less reactive, which helps their owner walk them and enjoy them more! And less distraction = more potty time because they now stop and do their business better and more frequently!

Learning more each season. This is the first time I’ve used “cages” to grow sweet potatoes along with growing my own slips from the potatoes themselves. I used 4 different varieties, all organic from the store. The purple seem to be the best so far. It’s only been about 90 days and that obviously was too early to harvest, however I wanted to see if it was working. Layering straw, compost and some perlite seemed to work, no rotting through the heavy rains this summer. However next year I’ll make the cages smaller and more shallow. Most of the potatoes were closer to the surface, from about 1/2 way up to the top. Just small roots near the bottom. The potatoes themselves seem good. No pests or rot. I will also trim the plants back next year as they grow to see if that helps the potatoes grow larger, encouraging the plants to produce more potatoes, rather than leaves and flowers. There are still two more towers so I’ll leave those until the middle-end of Oct to harvest. Now what I’ve harvested is on the porch curing. Can’t wait to try the first ones in a week or so! Have you grown your own??

Jellybean is fed twice a day on a controlled diet because of stomach upsets in the past. She’s finally feeling better on her regimen but she thinks she needs more! 😆😆. So we take a little kibble and we make a game of it. She loves to play and she loves to eat, so why not? She’s not eating too fast so it works for her tummy too. I enjoy figuring out how to work with a pets personality or issues and making the time enjoyable for us all. Her owner is going to start doing this too! What do you think?
