We are excited to announce that Bird Gardens of Naples had our Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) inspection today, and we passed! 🎉
We want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible volunteers who work tirelessly every single day to make Bird Gardens of Naples a better place for the birds who call our sanctuary home. From cleaning enclosures and preparing diets to providing enrichment, maintaining habitats, and ensuring each bird receives the attention and care they deserve, none of this would be possible without their dedication.
We also want to emphasize just how important FWC inspections and oversight are for facilities that house and care for wildlife. Regulations and inspections play an essential role in promoting animal welfare, responsible husbandry, public safety, and accountability. They help ensure that facilities are meeting applicable standards for animal care, housing, sanitation, and safety. We strongly believe that any organization entrusted with the lives of animals should welcome accountability and oversight. Whether a facility is a rescue, sanctuary, or breeding operation, the well being of the animals should always come first. Inspections aren’t just about passing or failing. They’re about maintaining standards, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the animals in our care are living in safe, appropriate environments. Animal welfare should never be based solely on someone’s word. Transparency, education, accountability, and proper oversight matter. 💚
At Bird Gardens of Naples, we are constantly learning, improving, expanding, and working toward providing the best possible quality of life for the 200+ birds in our care.
