Can cats get heatstroke?

Yes! While we often think about dogs when it comes to summer heat, cats can overheat too—especially during warmer days or when they don’t have access to a cool, well-ventilated space.

Keep an eye out for signs like excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, restlessness, or vomiting, and make sure your cat always has access to fresh water and a cool place to relax.

A little summer know-how can go a long way in keeping your cat happy, healthy, and comfortable. 🐱

Planning a day by the water? Keep an eye out for blue-green algae.

Not all algae are harmless. Blue-green algae (also called cyanobacteria) can produce toxins that are extremely dangerous to dogs, even if they only drink a small amount of contaminated water or lick it from their fur after swimming.

If the water looks bright green, blue-green, or has a paint-like surface, it's safest to keep your pet out.

Before your next lakeside adventure, learn what to watch for and what to do if you think your pet has been exposed.
