Positive Equine Equine Behavioral Solutions Hello and thank you for visiting. My name is Mandie Stuhan.

I am a passionate about helping horses and their owners develop positive relationships with each other and with training. My program's inclusive approach is structured around the tenets of my belief system: health, balance, integrity, patience, fairness, fear-free environment, and most importantly, allowing the learner a voice. I put my best foot forward daily to apply these core values in my rela

tionships with horses and humans. My training methods are science-based, focused on positive reinforcement, and abide by the LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Adverse) training code of ethics. I excel in training horses who are display human aggression, horses who are under-socialized and under-handled, teaching husbandry behaviors (preparation for stress free medical treatments). My certifications include: Certified Training Partner with Karen Pryor Academy, Certified Fear-Free trainer, and a contributing author to the IAABC Newsletter.

Here is an update on the progress made with the BLM Gelding. I have the utmost respect for this horse. I have learned more while gentling him than all the horses I have worked with combined. Not just related to training but about myself.

Do you have a plan for your horse if something happens to you? Here are the stats for horses when their owners fall short of having a clear plan. It's hard to think about, let alone talk about. Please be your horse’s advocate-have the tough conversation with your friends and family. Make sure your horse is not part of the 27%.

Holy smokes, guys; I was unsure what to expect from this horse. So here is a short snippet of what we have accomplished in the last 12-days—all with reward-based training (clicker training), using protective contact, giving him a choice and control of his learning experience. I will start to post individual training sessions on YouTube.

Wild Pick-Up
Friday morning, mustang pick up came quickly. This once wild 12-year herd stallion showed his spirit during pickup when he crashed through the panel and raced away from the shoot. Once redirected to the shoot leading into the trailer, he flipped around and forced his way out faster than the door could get latched. He then had to be reloaded. My heart hurt for him as this was an extremely stressful experience for him and everyone watching.

Based on information gathered at pickup, we changed our plan for his enclosure. Once we arrived, we quickly reinforced the walls in his pen and built a secondary space surrounding his enclosure.

In preparation to unload, we built a sturdy shoot that the trailer would back down to open, allowing us to open the door safely and for him to step out of the trailer into his pen.
