Oh Mocha! Such a sweet girl!

Continuing our recall skills practice, some impulse control, and nail maintenance work! Clipped both dewclaws just a smidge with no fuss from her whatsoever! Typically, she's a girl who must be "air-jailed" for nail care, so that was a huge success moment to show her humans cooperative care can be done, and pretty simply! Awesome work, Team Mocha!

This sweet little lab puppy is named Backus and he just completed his puppy program with us! His family worked super hard on his skills to greet people politely with all four feet on the ground and walk on a loose leash. We love teaching puppies essential skills while they’re young!

Meet Gracie the Boston terrier mix! She came to us to work on her big emotional responses to people, dogs and vehicles. She is also a little jumping bean who is learning to keep all 4 paws on the ground. We’re so happy to be able to work with this sweet girl and even happier to see her start to relax and snooze at the end of her training sessions.

Oh look at this face!! 🥹

Benny is a land shark, I mean, vizsla puppy 😅 And we are just starting his private training program! We are going to work on foundation skills and creative welfare outlets. He really likes to CHOMP! Teaching his humans how to appropriately play tug with him AND enforce nap times will help dramatically!

The one! The only! Cooper!! 😍🤍

Trip to Home Depot for some more exposure and confidence building! I was amazed! Outside, garden center, inside the store... Loud noises, carts moving big items... Cooper was not bothered by ANYTHING! A stranger was able to say hello, even pet Cooper! When we started together last summer, this handsome little guy wouldn't even get close to me the first few weeks, flinched if I moved at all, and showed significant stress signs and reactivity in public to new things and dogs. He's come SO far! 🥹🤍

It's important for puppies to learn how to interact with their own species! Play time with will balanced personalities helps build correct play 'language' and social confidence! This was a lovely example of play from class yesterday. Watch how they take turns being the chaser and then swap to being chased instead! No puppy is trying to hide, or being pinned against the ground or a wall! This was very healthy, wonderful play to watch.

Keep an eye out for upcoming puppy classes and puppy socials hopefully in July in our new Groton City facility! We can't wait to open our doors to all the waggy tails and happy faces!

Oh Marco! You are sooo handsome!

This young man just started a private training program with KBDB to build foundation skills, implement management strategies to prevent mistakes, and explore new ways for him to use his brain and grow in confidence and trust with his humans! He's clever and very quick to catch on to patterns, so we are going to have a lot of fun! 😍

Need guidance on where to start with your pup? You tell us your goals and we will break them down into small steps so it's easy for you AND your dog to make progress along the way! May is fully booked, June is filling up, don't wait!! Get in our calendar asap!

SICK! OF! THE! RAIN! 😭

Who else's dogs are going stir crazy?! 😵‍💫

Survival plan for ANOTHER rainy day tomorrow, pick a few activities to pass the time!:

Extra 1-2 training sessions (even 2 extra minutes is better than nothing!)
Food in enrichment toys/puzzles instead of a bowl
Long lasting chew like a bully stick or cow trachea
Play extra game of tug!
See if you hide pup's favorite toy if they can find it again (start in an easy hiding spot)!
If your dog likes fetch, Reward their ability to give you eye contact or respond to their name by immediately throwing the ball for them!
Nap! Extra naps!! So many naps! Nothing better than a nap on a rainy day!

We can do it folks, stay strong, stay dry (except probably you won't because pup will still want their walk 🤭)!!!
