I’m struggling with this … a beautiful pity mix, brindle, literally standing in the middle of the road we drove back on to view a property … not sure we were on the right road, just standing in the middle of the road. Not protective, more like waiting for someone. I hesitate to do anything, not knowing if he/she belongs to one of the homes near by - no collar … but In an area where it would’ve easy to dump or a lost dog to Make a home, under an underpass … 2 cats close by … not sure how to proceed. He/she seems to be guarding the road (like waiting for someone to comeback).
Being a pit mix, I hesitate to call animal control, as they rarely get out of the shelter. I’ll drive by myself, take pictures, see if she/he is friendly and see what I can do. I don’t know what else I can do … if she was abandoned, she won’t want to leave her post … if she belongs to someone close by - I can ask around. But that’s not what it appears to me. She/he seems healthy , no collar, and just seems to be waiting for her person to come back. It’s a dead end road. I’ll share pictures tomorrow. Doesn’t seem like a lost dog, seems more like a dog waiting for her master to return. Breaks my heart to leave her there! But animal control isn’t the answer either! Cause pit mixes are the first to be put down! I’ll see if she’s sweet and friendly (most of them are!!). She had no signs of aggression at all, and there were 2 cats lounging around her/him … just another dog lost or abandoned!
