🍂🐾 Wellness Wednesday 🐾🍂

Fall is finally here, and just like us, our pups can feel the seasonal changes too! Cooler temps mean longer walks and more outdoor playtime, but they can also bring dry skin, shedding, and seasonal allergies.

✨ Wellness Tips for Your Pup This Fall:
🍁 Keep their skin & coat healthy with omega-3 rich foods and supplements.
🍁 Wipe paws after walks to remove pollen, dirt, and allergens.
🍁 Stay mindful of hidden hazards like mushrooms, acorns, and chocolatey fall goodies.
🍁 Keep them cozy with a soft blanket or light sweater on chilly mornings.

When we officially open, Okie Pups Apothecary will have natural goodies to help your dog stay happy & healthy all season long. We can’t wait to share them with you! 🐶💛

🐾 Tip Tuesday: Safe Steps for You & Your Pup 🐾

Early mornings are a beautiful time to connect with your dog and set the tone for a calm, intentional day. At Okie Pups Apothecary, we love starting the day with a peaceful walk—and for many of us, that means heading out before sunrise.

I’m lucky to live in a safe neighborhood where walking in the dark feels secure, but it’s always important to take precautions when walking with your pup in low light.

✨ Here are a few safety tips for early dog walks:

- Use reflective leashes, collars, or vests for both you and your dog
- Carry a flashlight or wear a headlamp to light your path
- Stick to familiar, well-lit routes
- Avoid distractions—stay off your phone and keep one ear open if using headphones
- Keep your dog close and leashed, especially near roads or unfamiliar areas

Intentional mornings aren’t just good for you—they’re great for your pup’s mental and physical health too. 🐶💛

What’s your favorite way to start the day with your dog?

🌞 It’s 9am and I’ve successfully (or is it unsuccessfully?) started approximately 47 tasks today.

My original goal? Whip up our first batch of Okie Pups treats for this weekend’s show. I got out all the ingredients, laid out the supplies… and then decided the treat cupboard needed a glow-up. Naturally, that led to swapping it with our water bottle cupboard (yes, we have an entire cupboard dedicated to Stanleys, Owalas, and every other hydration vessel known to humankind).

Then I remembered the laundry.

Emptied the dryer ✔️
Forgot to move the washer load ➖
Got distracted sweeping the floors ➿

Now I’ve got:
- Baking supplies ready to go
- Two cupboards wide open with half their contents removed
- An empty dryer left ajar
- A washer still waiting
- And a dusty dustpan perched on a stool like it’s judging me

✨ Today’s forecast: mildly chaotic with a 100% chance of treats (eventually).

If you need me, I’ll be somewhere between the kitchen, the laundry room, and a deep existential cupboard re-org. Wish me luck, and if you’re coming to the show in Ardmore this weekend, just know these treats are baked with love, laughter, and a little bit of morning mayhem. 🐾

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating ALL the pups who fill our lives with joy, love, and a little bit of slobber. 💛 At Okie Pups Apothecary, every day is dog day, but today we get to spoil them extra!

🏁 Our doodles took it to heart and raced straight into the celebration — because clearly, they’re leading the pack when it comes to having the best National Dog Day. 🐶💨✨

However you celebrate, don’t forget to give your pup some extra love (and maybe a homemade treat or two 😉). Drop a photo of your four-legged best friend below so we can celebrate together!

🐾 Tip Tuesday: Paw Care 101 🐾

Hot pavement + rough terrain = sore paws!
Your pup’s paws are tough, but they’re not invincible. Here’s how to keep them safe and healthy:

🌡️ Check the pavement: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Walk during cooler hours or stick to grassy paths.
🧴 Moisturize: Use a dog-safe balm to prevent cracking and dryness.
🧼 Clean after walks: Dirt, salt, and debris can irritate paw pads—wipe them down with a damp cloth.
👟 Consider booties: For hikes or extreme temps, protective footwear can be a game-changer.
🌿 Natural healing: Calendula and coconut oil are gentle options to soothe minor paw irritation.

Your pup’s paws carry them through life—let’s keep them comfy and protected! 💚

🌟 Motivational Monday 🌟
Scared? Good. That means it matters.

This weekend, one of my teenage daughters helped paint the shop — steady hands, quiet strength, and a whole lot of love in every brushstroke.

Opening a business isn’t easy. It’s terrifying, actually. You worry about the “what ifs.” You question your timing, your budget, your sanity. But then you remember why you started.

For me, it’s about creating something special — a space where pups are pampered, wellness is celebrated, and community is built one tail wag at a time.

Okie Pups Apothecary is more than a shop. It’s a leap of faith. It’s a legacy in progress. It’s proof that even when you’re scared… you do it anyway.

So here’s to every dreamer painting their future — one bold stroke at a time. 🐶💖
