Boston Terrier & Short Nose Rescue Of Oklahoma

Boston Terrier & Short Nose Rescue Of Oklahoma All adoptable dogs are fully vetted at the time of adoption. The love of the breed led to adoption, but the love of the dog led to starting a rescue.

Boston Terrier & Short Nose Rescue Of Oklahoma is a 501c3 nonprofit that strives to rescue Boston Terriers and short nosed breeds from kill shelters and other unsuitable situations. Sweet Madison was only 9 years old when she lost her battle with bladder cancer. It is because of her that Boston Terrier Rescue of Oklahoma was established just one year later. Madison will be remembered for many, man

y years to come through the work we do for other Bostons. We might not have been able to save her life, but we will do our best to save as many others as we can! We have dogs being fostered in Muskogee, Tulsa and OKC.

Update: this poor, little guy is being euthanized. After sedation, X-rays revealed that his jaw is too broken to fix it. It even has a piece of it missing. We tried to fix you little man! 💔

Thank you for the donations. If you want your donation refunded, please message this page.

Emergency fund request!

This little guy was found this morning by one of our volunteers. There’s NO WAY we could leave him there there to die. His jaw is broken , he’s extremely emaciated and absolutely loaded with ticks. We are assuming he was hit by a car. He was dropped off at the vet to see what can be done for him. We realize he’s not a Boston, but we can’t deny him help just because he is not our breed. He’s a precious soul, not matter his breeds. They will call after he has had x-rays and been evaluated. Please help if you can. This will be a huge vet bill that we were not expecting. The last pictures are of him sedated. All donations are tax deductible and we will update as soon as we can.

We have had several heartworm positive dogs lately. ❤️🪱
We could certainly use your financial help with their vet bills.

Heartworm disease is caused by mosquitoes and easily preventable, but prevention is not often given. This potentially leaves the dog with a deadly case of heartworms. It IS treatable, but the treatment is long and costly. All of these adorable faces you see had heartworms coming into rescue and has either been treated or being treated by one of our wonderful vets. Treatment involves a month long round of doxycycline to weaken the adults and then injections of immiticide to kill the adults. After that, the dog has to stay on compete crate rest for several weeks. It’s a treatment that the dog shouldn’t have to endure, but it has to be done or the dog will eventually die of heart failure. This is after a lifetime of keeping the disease going by mosquitos biting them, picking up the microfilaria (baby heartworms) and then that mosquito biting another host and injecting the microfilaria. It’s a vicious cycle.

Treatment takes money. 💵
And money comes by donations of our wonderful donors. If you would like to help with vet bills, you can donate below. Every donation is SO appreciated and tax deductible for you. Even small donations add up to large amounts. Thank you in advance!
