Pound Buddies is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding good homes for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats.

Pound Buddies Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is primarily a volunteer organization that relies on donations and adoption fees for its funding. Registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations to Pound Buddies are tax-deductible.

Meet Sherlock 🐾

Some dogs walk into the shelter and immediately make you feel like you’ve known them forever… Sherlock is one of those dogs. ❤️

This handsome 1-year-old Pointer mix is 61 pounds of pure love and is always ready to be by his people’s side. His favorite place is where his people are. ❤️

And let’s talk about those ears… 👂✨ Sherlock’s adorable, fabulous ears are just one of the many things that make him impossible not to love. They perfectly match his big personality and sweet spirit!

Sherlock came to us after being found running loose with his brother near the mall and brought in by police. His brother has already found his forever home, and now it’s Sherlock’s turn to find the family who will love him just as much as he loves everyone he meets.

Meet Tawny 🐾

Some dogs walk into your life with a big personality… and some quietly steal your heart just by being exactly who they are. Tawny is one of those special souls.

At just 1 year old and 49 pounds, this beautiful girl is the perfect little “house seal” — calm, gentle, and happiest just taking in the world around her. 🦭❤️

Tawny is incredibly gentle, especially when taking treats (she has the sweetest manners!), and she walks wonderfully on a leash. She is a low-energy girl who doesn’t need a lot of excitement — she’s perfectly content sitting beside you and watching all the things happening around her.
Other dogs? People? The world going by? Tawny loves to quietly observe. She sits calmly and takes it all in without feeling the need to be the center of attention. She is definitely an easygoing companion.

She keeps her kennel clean, is up to date on vaccinations, and has the most gorgeous red coat that makes her stand out.

✨ Meet Elton, Alma & Kobe ✨

Sometimes the sweetest things come in small packages… and these three little pups are proof! 🖤 Each one has their own personality, but they all have one thing in common — they’re ready to find the people they can call their own.

🐶 Elton-At just 6 months old, Elton is the perfect mix of puppy fun and good manners! This adorable Poodle/Boston Terrier mix already knows sit and lay down, walks nicely on a leash, keeps his kennel clean, and enjoys the company of other dogs. He has some puppy energy (because he’s still a puppy!), but he listens well and is eager to please. This sweet boy is going to make someone a wonderful companion!

🐾 Alma-Alma is a beautiful 1-year-old Poodle/Maltese mix looking for someone who will help her feel safe and loved. She’s a little nervous at first, but once she knows her people, she really enjoys being close to them. Alma keeps her kennel clean and walks well on a leash. She’s hoping for a patient person who will show her that the world can be a wonderful place.

🐕 Kobe-Kobe is a handsome 7-year-old Poodle mix with a heart of gold. This sweet guy keeps his kennel clean, walks great on a leash, and loves taking his time exploring the yard — sniffing every interesting smell along the way. Kobe is the perfect reminder that older dogs still have so much love and adventure left to give. ❤️

🖤 Meet Taka 🖤

Taka is a 3 year-old Akita mix weighing in at a solid 82 pounds of handsome. While he may be carrying a few extra pounds (please don’t tell him we mentioned it 🤫), he wears them well and is ready to continue his fitness journey with his future family.

This sweet boy is clean in his kennel, neutered, dog-friendly, and has a nice medium-energy play style. He enjoys having fun but isn’t the type who needs to be in constant motion. Taka would do best with a confident, more dominant female dog who can match his personality and help maintain a balanced relationship.

One thing you’ll notice about Taka right away is how observant he is. He’s always paying attention to what’s going on around him and likes to keep an eye on his people. That loyal, watchful nature is actually a classic Akita trait!

Akitas were originally bred in Japan and are known for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and devoted to their families. They tend to form strong bonds with their people and are often naturally protective of those they love. While they’re known for their impressive appearance and confidence, Akitas also have a softer side and can be incredibly affectionate with their trusted humans.

Taka embodies many of those wonderful qualities. He’s a sweet, attentive companion who is happiest spending time with his people and would make an excellent best friend for someone looking for a loyal sidekick.

Meet Nova ❤️

At just 1 year old and 51 pounds, Nova is the total package—a beautiful girl with a stunning brindle coat, a gentle heart, and so much love to give.
Nova is the kind of dog who doesn’t just enjoy affection—she actively seeks it out. She loves being with her people and soaking up every bit of attention she can get.

This sweet girl is already house trained and crate trained, making the transition into her future home that much easier. She knows basic commands like “sit” and “shake,” and is highly treat motivated, which means she’s eager and ready to keep learning.

Nova is dog friendly, though she can be a little shy and socially awkward when meeting new canine friends. Give her a little time, and her sweet personality starts to shine through.

With her good manners, loving nature, and gorgeous looks, it’s hard to believe she’s still waiting for a family of her own. Nova is at that perfect age—past the tiny puppy stage but still young enough for years of adventures, cuddles, and memories ahead.

🖤 Meet Jada 🖤

Some dogs adapt to shelter life better than others. Jada is not one of them.

Every day, this sweet girl waits patiently in her kennel, hoping someone will stop for her. She’s miserable being confined and longs for what she wants most in the world: her people. The moment she gets out of her kennel, she transforms into the happiest girl. She doesn’t want toys, treats, or adventures—she just wants to be as close to you as possible, close enough to soak up every bit of love she can get. Shelter life is taking a toll on her. She deserves more than a kennel. She deserves a couch, a family, and someone who will love her as much as she loves them.

When Jada arrived at the shelter, she was heartbreakingly emaciated and clearly hadn’t had an easy life. Yet through it all, she greeted everyone with a wagging tail, endless kisses, and a forgiving heart. That’s just who she is. 😍

Jada is around 2-3 years old, already spayed, and a perfect 41 pounds. She’s one of the most dog-friendly dogs at our shelter and is often used to help us dog test new arrivals. Dogs love her. People love her. Everyone who meets her loves her.

❤️ Meet Nemo ❤️

And today, we’re introducing one of our very favorite kinds of dogs—a big, blockheaded sweetheart with a heart just as big as his head.

Nemo is 5 years old and is 75+ pounds of pure snuggle butt, goofball energy, and unconditional love. Despite being abandoned and left behind in a vacant home, this handsome guy hasn’t let his past define him. In fact, he’s one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet when he’s spending time with his people and other pups.

Nemo has quickly become a staff favorite, and it’s easy to see why. He’s gentle, sweet, patient, calm, and incredibly easy to work with. Whether you’re taking him for a walk, spending time in the yard, or simply sitting beside him, Nemo is just happy to be included.

He’s also a very tidy roommate and keeps his kennel exceptionally clean.

Having trouble sleeping at night? We may have found the solution. Nemo would be more than happy to volunteer as your personal weighted blanket, professional cuddle buddy, and nighttime snuggle partner. There’s something pretty comforting about having 70 pounds of love curled up beside you.

Dogs like Nemo remind us that resilience is real. Even after being let down by people, he still greets every day with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart.

Now all he needs is a family that will never leave him behind again.
